hi all just got a txt telling me to txt the word "live" to 81456 or your service will be suspended,THIS IS NOT FROM 3 ,although its says it is, do not reply to this txt as three know all about it and are trying to stop it and you will be charged ???????? so be warned

so they can take action against instigator of text.

Just checked on the PP+ web site and they have no details for short code 81456. A good start!!!

Go back to 3, as they are aware of the the texts they will also have knowledge as to what thieves that are working this scam.

thanks folks have complained to phonepayplus now ,think this is a disgrace that a company is aloud to txt saying they are from your phone company and was just wondering how many people did reply to this txt ,not only will you get charged but how many more of these companys will then get your phone number ?????

This is the reason I advised you to find out who the company was as you must get yourself removed from their data base for 2 reasons.

1) If you don't they can use it again to send you other texts, which will possilbly be unsolicited reverse bill texts and cost you at least £1.50 each.

2) Cowboys like this also sell on your details to other cowboy PRS companies and the problem will begin again, only this time with a different company.

A thought: Do you know if the original text was a premium rate text, that is to say that you have been charged for receiving the text?

no I have not been charged for this txt and I have done a search and cant find anything on this number only thing I find is there are a lot of 3 users on other forums getting the same txts,so how can I find out were they are from

E-mail them at the address Mnby9rpj has found and DEMAND that your details are removed from their data base.

As you have not been charges for the text, you have received what is known as an 'Unsolicited PROMOTIONAL text' which breaches the rules and regulations as set down by The Information Commisioners Office (The ICO) and you should make a complaint to them via their web site.

Also, as has been posted, you should take five minutes to make a complaint to PhonePayPlus who are the PRS Regulator. This can also be done online via their web site.

This course of action will be in your favour should our friends at Text4prizes continue to send texts or move up a gear and send chargable PRS texts.

i got the same text message twice - luckily i did not reply, but i was going to check with three today, until i saw this thread. I have not been charged for received the text but i dont like the idea of others using my number for this sort of scamming
