Wow! This thread really did take on a life of its own didn't it!

My husband has been in hospital over Christmas and is coming home today. I've kept on top of things fairly well considering the youngest has had chicken pox, I've been recovering from an asthma attack and a viral infection and there was all the Christmassy stuff to deal with on my own.

BUT there is no way this house is going to be the tranquil haven I wanted him to come home to. We've managed a welcome home poster for the window, we're just about to make some chocolate crispies and the place is in reasonable shape, but there isn't a single tea towel, the oven is , the piano has 2 coats, several books, 'nutty nut chase', kerplunk and the fruit bowl on it and I can only find one of my son's shoes...
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Anyone brave enough to put up pictures of their pits...i mean lived in homes?

    Not me!

I found a list today that I wrote before I finished work of things I planned to do over Christmas:
Paint spare bedroom Not a chance, didn't even look to see if we had the paint
Make more apple jam Nope, stewed the apples for lazy pudding instead
Pickle onions :D Did on first day off
Pickled cabbage :D Did on first day off
Sort wardrobe Just threw more in
Wash summer coats and put away Can't find them anymore
    Wash curtains Nope
    Hoover under all beds Nope
Prune roses They are now tapping on next doors windows like triffids
Trim box bushes Just threw some fairy lights on them instead

My fruit bowl also contains 4 dessicated clementines, 2 sets of car keys, an FM sender, lots of receipts, sunglasses, a screwdriver, sweetie gift bags (unused) and a lint roller

I am hoping that going back to work tomorrow will scare me in to action but given that I only got dressed an hour ago, I seriously doubt it! :rotfl:

Well this thread has made me chortle again and inspired me to have a look in the cupboard under the stairs

Can somebody explain why, when I remove loads of stuff, the rest doesn't fit back in the cupboard/drawer/wardrobe. Do things breath a sigh of relief and swell up?? (A bit like when clothes shrink in the wardrobe when you haven't worn them for a bit only in reverse)
  • today i found some unusable spinach lurking in the fridge :( :(thats the first thing I've wasted for months, feel awful about it :(

Dont worry, everyone throws food out.

Maybe you could make this a good thing? Start having a weekly 'fridge check' ? Using up the things that are near 'death'!

I always beleive that the only mistake you can make is not learning from your mistakes. If you use them for good and learn, you have lost nothing but gained everything.

I haven't hoovered for 3 weeks. At least.

And there is a black bag on mouldy food sat in the hallway waiting for me to take it outside to the bins. But it's cold out there. :)

Oh, to be a bachelor. :rotfl:

Its not just you! I have three minging bin bags to take down to the bin sheds. I dont know where to hoover is, think it might be in the `crapola` (cupboard under stairs). Had a hideous amount of takeaways too.

At least it looks like you can get into your spare room, I don't think I can open the door very wide into mine.
