  • OK so here's some of mine :o

Yesterday morning we had a fry up before going round to the IL's for Sunday lunch - all plates, pans etc are still in the sink/on the worktops - and haven't been soaked

My ever growing ironing pile keeps getting shifted round the house so we can sit down or go to bed

DD had football practice on Wedneday and her footie boots are still outside - wet abd getting wetter

I haven't cleaned my bathroom for over a week

I haven't changed the bedding for over a week either

That's it - no more :rotfl: I really am going to catch up today ;)
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    I confess
    • I left all last nights tea things out in the kitchen so have had to clear them up.
    • The remains of the beef casserole was still in the slow cooker but Ive boxed it up and will freeze it. By the time OH gets it out to take for a tea at work he'll have forgotten it was out of the fridge all night.
    • My ironing pile is so big its the width of 2 trolley bags and as high as my utility room window sill. DD actually climbed onto it when OH had to put her through the window when they locked themselves out. Some of it did get despached upstairs to our room and still sits in the trolley bags it went up in, and there is stuff in there from our summer holiday last August.
    • Roasting tins are meant to be one use and throw away arent they
    • I put the first coat of paint on the dining room [strike]3 years ago[/strike] oops it was February 2002 and finally got round to the second coat in February this year but only managed to and a half walls. The painting stuff still sits under a chair.
    • The lounge hasnt had a second coat on it yet and that must be another [strike]3 years [/strike]- oops its was August 2003 the camera never lies
    • We have never painted the hall stairs and landing since we moved in as we cant reach it - it has a 24' drop so is still the lovely shade of purple that it was when we moved in , in 2000!
    • I do have patches on the wall in the hall from tester pots and they must have been there since 2003
    • The lampshade on the top landing is minging as I cannot reach it to clean it
    • I cleaned the outside of my upstairs windows about a month ago for the first time since we moved in, when I borrowed the window cleaners stuff from work.
    • Since we had our attic conversion our room never got finished as the builder went over budget and did a bunk so we have not had a carpet in there since it was built in 2003
    • When DD was smaller ie 2003 we used to play eye spy in bed in the mornings and every morning we would have eye spy with WB for window blobs that were the bits of glue and paper left on the velux windows. They are still there
    • The window blobs on the glass at the top of the spiral stair case can never be removed as none of us can reach and being a spiral stair case you cant use a ladder
    • We have never built wardrobes into our attic room so constantly live with the floordrobe although I have a mega shoe cupboard under the eves
    • We have a room that is known as the bin. My sons old room should be the office but every time anyone comes to stay and we have a clear up it gets chucked in the bin.
    • The bin is also where DD's toys get sent when she wont clean her room up as I got fed up riding round with 5 bin bags full in the car
    • When my dad asked me to clear some boxes out of his garage I drove round with them in the boot of my car for a year and a half and only moved them (straight into the attice!) when I sold the car.
    • I never clean the car - I think the last car I did was my little Triumph Spitfire which was pre DS so must have been about 1990 - 1991
I think thats probably it for now

EDIT forgot to say I think I probably hang washing out on the line - twice a year. TD has been on at least 4 times this morning

    All this provves pepys is we're normal and the tidy ones are the odd ones out!! Thought of a couple more;

If one of the cats is sick I leave it to dry (can be days depeding on how moist it is) cos you can pick it up easier :) Likewise with poo...

I hoover the window sill, mantlepiece etc and dont think I even own a duster!

I spilt red wine last night on my cream rug and was so tired (after a mamouth sunday lunch and trying 5 different puddings!!) that I didnt clean it and suspect that it will have to go...unless anyone has any tips on getting red wine out (salt didnt work cos I put it on too late)....

White wine poured on red wine can get it out.

Forgive me OS'ers for I have also sinned.

Hubby has been running around doing all the housework I'm too knackered to do. As such, he's done a heap of laundry which needs putting away and ironing, and is now boiling pasta for dinner. I am helping, by sitting here drinking a glass of wine.

I took the curtains in the bedroom down to make some new ones, throwing the old mouldy ones out. Now we have a window in our bedroom which is over 2m high, and almost 3m wide and looks out on a busy car park on the ground floor. No sex, we undress in the bathroom... and it's been more than a week.

On the plus side we repainted the bedroom and bathroom. It saved dusting the ceiling.

Thank you all! :T Now I've read this thread I no longer have to muster up the courage to join you flyladies!! Boy oh boy has this been a revelation! Truly thought you were all Anthea Turner clones. Let me unburden my guilt and shame....(in order of shamefulness)

    - Joined Learn Direct in early December to get my IT skills up to date, have yet to do the first part.:o
    - The spare room, that's my version of kazmeister's bin. When I read flyladies fling bogies it inspires me to go round the house and fling stuff in there out of the way then quickly shut the door - but I don't think I'm doing it right!! Also contains the iron and my walker/exercise contraption thing, haven't used either since I've moved (June 2006).
    - Haven't hoovered in a month oops! Got a brand new vac too, obviously the novelty has worn off.
    - And in this same month not clean the toilet. Or the bathroom. Or the windows. Or dusted.
    - To be honest dusting, like ironing, goes against my belief system. As long as I can see Philip and Fern on the tv screen that'll do. The oven hasn't been cleaned since I've moved. Or WM.
    - There's washing up in the sink from Thursday  . But can't do much about it at the mo as I'm 40 miles away at my mum and dad's.
    - In my preparation for ebaying I've collected cardboard boxes and packaging, it's taking up half my bedroom. The other half is taken up with the stuff I'm hoping to flog. De-cluttering has yet to materialise in my house.

And as a singleton I have no one to blame, but me, myself and I. And I left full time employment before Christmas too! Strangely since I've had more time on my hands the less I have done. Coincidentally, discovered MSE forum at about the same time, mmmm possible connection?:j

    :rotfl: :rotfl:

Fantastic and hilarious thread. Haven't laughed this much in such a long time. It's refreshing to know I'm not alone.

My living room is clean and tidy as somehow this thread inspired me yesterday to do it - but it was the first time in at least a month.

DD's bedroom is also clean and tidy (and only because we thought we might have guests) and we finally discovered what the carpet looks like. Unfortunately it just about killed the vacuum cleaner trying to get up all the hair off the floor - I read somewhere that you should leave hair out for the birds to use for their nests, well that's the bird population of northern scotland taken care of for their nests!!

Somewhere in my kitchen there is a 6ft x 4ft farmhouse kitchen table and on that I think is the fruit bowl (who knows it might have some ex-fruit in it) The kitchen was installed 3 years ago and we still haven't decorated it. In fact I've only just chosen some tiles - chosen them but haven't bought them yet.

I've got the day off today and I'm going to finish stripping the wallpaper in the shower room - which I started doing last year. The shower room is the size of a small shed and it's half tiled so that tells you how much wallpaper there was to come off!!!

I have 2 young dogs who have destroyed the hall carpet which is more of a patchwork effect now. You can't vacuum it because the pieces of carpet just stick to the vacuum iykwim. I would throw it away but dh seems to think it's got years of life in it yet:confused: I did get rid of some of it though and rearranged the patches to try to make it look as though I hadn't. I'm going to get rid a bit more today - if he asks I'll say I washed it and it shrank:rotfl:

As with washing - well in this house, if you discover washing in the washing machine that you didn't put in there then it's safer to wash it again 'cos who knows how long it's been there. However that has meant that sometimes the same clothes can be washed up to 4 times in one day!!!!!

Well I suppose I ought to make some effort to get out of bed........although maybe just a quick look on ebay.

  • Morning! I got up early and have done 2 loads of washing and its dancing on the washing line, am halfway thru the dishes (from saturday), have had 2 ginger n lemon weight watcher biscuits( to counter-effect the hot cross bun im going to have in 5 mins) then Im going to clean the fish tank - its amazing how goldfish can write 'SOS' on the inside of the tank! Then Ive got to fix the fence where the rabbits have started escaping from to'visit' my lovely neighbours garden and feast on her evergreen bushes. Bless her, she said to me 'Your kids have never been any bother but them bliddy rabbits are making up for them. I dont mind them eating the grass but its me evergreens I dont want them eating'. So Im going to give them a stern telling off and wag my finger at them and tell them not to eat the evergreens. Yep, a typical day for me actually. And then Ill clean up their poo pellets (which isnt a daily task Im ashamed to admit)!
But first - a toasted hot cross bun with butter and jam and ill wash the plate and knife later - probably wednesday..

GR thanks for this thread, read it all and haven't stopped laughing especially at Hester's bath panel tip - never thought of that :rotfl::rotfl:

OH's car is full of my junk to go to the tip so he's bought a new one which is pristine (I don't like it prefer the old comfy lived in one :D) Just incase you all think we're rich we're not and he planned a new car anyway, well it's not new it's just one that the previous owner had really looke after and it was cheap in car terms.:D

I had a mega tidy up a few weeks ago and now can't find christmas presents I planned to return:eek::eek: I have looked often and am beginning to think that during the panic clean up I may have thrown them out.

  • I'm just having a coffee then I'm going to tackle the kitchen today! The dishes are already done but I need to get into some cupboards and get rid of pots and pans I haven't used since moving in Oct 2003! Then there is the dreaded "kitchen drawer" you know the one where everything gets squeezed into, well I have 4 of the blighters! and I shall not neglect the fruit bowl! The floor needs a good scrub too. Seems so much to do now I can read it all but I shall just face one thing at a time...... 10 cupboards and 6 drawers and a fridge freezer.......Help!

I shall post later the oldest food item I throw away
