Pigpen, what about the prawns :rotfl:I still remember you going on about a 'smell' for ages. I agree with you, depends what things you remember, my friend only remembers being too embarrassed to take anyone to her house or invite them for dinner because a child went once and told everyone they lived in filth.

Oh mushrooms, if they fall somewhere pick them up, same with other uncovered veg, dealing with fly infested houses caused by rotten veg (not my house) is NOT fun!
Well that's the kitchen done, ish, nothing like a good confession then looking at it  thinking I must tackle some of it. Shoes are all safe now :rotfl:
One day I might be more organised...........

lol.. that was just a dish that had once contained prawns!!! ROFL.. I'd forgotten about that.. PMSL.. I have no shame!

My dad used to come round and moan about my mess (tiny 3 bedroomed house and 10 of us living there!!) and he soon shut up when I said if he didn't like it he was more than welcome to tidy it.. and he came round way too often for it to really bother him!

This thread is hilarious. I love to see everyones slipped halos. Does not make me feel nearly so bad.

I'm delighted a lodger has moved in and that she's tidy. This has the very desirable effect of making me feel like I have a visitor all the time and thus not leave crap everywhere and not wipe things down after me.

A few months ago my Mum came to stay the weekend for a wedding and wanted to know where the iron was. It was at this point I remembered that my ex took it when he left 7 months previously. I had to get a mate to bring one round when they visited so she could iron her top.

I have a priority cleaning system which means that things get done by order of urgency. Dishwashers always get emptied and filled, surfaces get wiped (I have to admit often because they have skank on them not as a matter of course as per a routine). If I'm really on fire I manage to hoover. Other things such as cleaning the cupboards and dusting and the oven are on the next wave of priority (which has tended towards the never). I'm so lazy with regards to housework I'm considering getting a cleaner with my cost of living payrise in May (slapped wrists) instead of putting it towards the mortgage like I know I should. I guess you already realised I don't iron and I have no kids I don't know where my time goes. I tried flylady but I felt I couldn't progress until I'd mastered the shiny sink on a regular basis so now I don't even read them so I don't overwhelm myself :)

Thanks for a great thread! Just chuccled my way through! Mid way was inspired to move my room round and located enough cat hair to make a new duvet with!! Have also decided to rid myself of the size 14 clothes that will never fit again (car boot here I come!) but alas have very little that fits! So to my "confessions" - have never cleaned my oven - its 2! Ironing is left as often as possible for when my mum comes every few months; all else is tumbled & worn or just left until mum visits! Turtle is looking at me from murky waters & I hope noone comes to visit as cat litter trays need cleaning but I have no litter and even I can smell it! While cleaning decided to change sheets to discover one of my cats has peed on a duvet but its dry...I didnt and its going in the wash but did wonder if I could get away with it! Floor is littered with bits of paper ready to be pasted onto the next money saving piggy!! I never wear clothes at home and am guaranteed to be found in my pj's at any time of day or night if people just pop in!

I don't need to worry about any food dropped on the floor - I have a dog !
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Thanks OS :rotfl:

All of the above posts sound like our house. Some weeks are better than others.

Earlier before we went visiting I said 'kids we do 20 mins swishing now so we don't come back to toys everywhere later '- they helped willingly too. It isn't usually that easy.

This week my friend came to help me find my bedroom, 1 of kids bedrooms (they share- double mess in half the space) and a bit of living room (yes she is a star!)
She's rubbish at tidying her own house - I can help her do that 'coz I'm not attached
to the carp, wierd isn't it?
There is still loads to do, but I'm reading MSE... so I'm busy :p

When the midwife / health visitors came round when babes tiny I hid dirty dishes in oven + chucked toys behind sofa.

    :)

    Brilliant thread!!

I came on here an hour ago to find the Flylady thread and have just read this from start to finish ... now I no longer feel "guilty" about the pile of paperwork sitting next to me which is starting to resemble a mountain, nor the rapidly emptying glass of wine ;)

    Happy Easter.

Martyn - a trick adopted by some flyladies is to spray polish and leave cloths around, make their partners think they have been working hard :D

Oh and you sod, quoting me so I can't delete it when I regret posting the confessions!!!

You would Never catch me doing that!!!

I am so lazy in the mornings DS1 (6) looks after DS2 (almost3) for atleast an hour downstairs and gets him his breakfast.

After dinner the dog gets told 'Clean up on isle 12' which is code for 'go eat all the stuff the kids/hubby/me dropped while eating our dinner so I don't have to clen it up'.

I have named my dirsty washing pile Mount Wash-me and it is now inhabited by native scots gnomes.

I no longer have a washing line outside and only use 1 radiator to dry the clothes that can't be tumble dryed.

My husband has a habit of 'shaking it' after a pee and you can tell how long it's been since I cleaned the bathroom by the number of yellow spots on the bathroom window ledge.
