the interesting thing with this thread now is not who is posting cos they are all sluvenly slobs alike but in fact who is not now posting.............they are the people we should worship and adore - they have no fault - they should be revered:j :j
  • DD1 borrowed a shirt from my friend's hubby to go to a fancy dress party, and I washed it the next day and hung it on a hanger on the picture rail in the dining room, ready to iron it when dry. It's still there. It was a Halloween party.

This morning I had to sit in the bathroom while DD2 went out into the street to rummage through the 3 bags of ironing I have in the boot of the car to see if there were any of my knickers in any of them.

We were rather silly and gave into daughter's nagging for a new carpet for her bedroom.
We've not seen it since it was laid.

I'm horrified, there I am slaving away to play catch up and all the time you're cheating. No wonder your list kept getting shorter the only thing you were cleaning were the lines of writing on it.

I looked up to you and lilme in an effort to get my house respectable and yes we've both seen the photos of each others mess but at least I'm not pretending :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Will read the rest of this thread later :D

Hot chocolate gets lovely and furry... after 6 months.. and.. I then took the lid off.. ran the cup through the DW and the furry bits that irritatingly were welded on I scraped off with a knife.. whizzed it through the DW again and put it back in the drawer to be used next time!!

Don't know if this qualifies, but then much of what is growing here is reaching far back down historic timelines.
After four years in a certain house, the shifting of a wardrobe revealed equivalent years of posted Vegemite fingers, thus immured by a small, quiet rebel.

Hey you lot - stop beating yourselves up.

Whoever said in-days-by everyone was a domestic goddess, and were naturally tidy???

Your OH's get weekends off, so they should share the workload with you on those days, else you don't get a break. I went back to work after I had DS for a rest! Yes being with kids all day is b. hard work, enjoyable for some, but still b. hard work. I used to struggle when working with a DH who has always done more than his fair share, so we got in a cleaner (yes it was MS, it gave us our lives back) prior to that I could either tidy up and then run out of time for the clean up.

As someone said to Smoky today - kids won't remember whether the house was perfect and ultra clean, they will remember the loves, and the games and the time spent with them!

The house will be tidier when they leave home, quieter, not as good, but tidier, until they come back to visit you!

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?

That isn't true.. one of the main things my mother remembers about her childhood is what a pigsty the house was!!! She used to moan on about it when my my gran got old and had to have her house spotless.

I remember my stepmother being a bit stepford when it came to cleaning.. and my grans was always tidy but not too clean. Auntie Paulines was always immaculate though!

    Yes.. you remember!

the difference is whether you care or not!! When my lot are older I'll tell them if they wanted the house tidy they should have started by putting away their own stuff!! It is a physical impossibility for one little me to keep on top of the mess of 10 people!.. well 9.. cos I don't make any!
