Sat reading this with dh, rolling with laughter and tears running down the cheeks.

It's good to know that while we thought all os houses were spotless and everything cooked from scratch people are really ordering pizzas and chucking stuff behind the sofa.

    Blilliant!:j
  • This thread is now famous  - Well done you lot :T :T :T

I hasten to add that I haven't laughed so much in ages.

    Ok, here goes.

I moved here Aug 06 and haven't cleaned the oven yet, will be moving in Aug this year and will pay to get it cleaned before I leave.

The toilet gets done when I decide it needs it (that could be once a week or less). There are only me and DS in the house.

I have a cream suite and it hasn't been cleaned once in 5 yrs, DS is now nearly 9 so you can imagine what it looks like!

I can't remember the last time I dusted or hoovered. DS is supposed to do them as part of his chores but it hasn't been done for at least 2 weeks.

The kitchen floor needs mopping, I swept it the other day, can't remember which one.

I use 3 mugs and only wash them when all 3 are dirty and I want a cup of tea. To be fair I don't own a DW.

I have clothes on the airer that are dry and the WM has just finished, can't empty it until I clear the airer but don't want to load up the ironing basket.

Took one look at Flylady and left very quickly, scared me to death!

My kitchen sink seriously needs cleaning, but there are dishes on the draining board which will stay there til I use them again.

In my defence, I work full time but am off on sick leave after having an op and am not that mobile (how long can I use that excuse for??)

I used to have an au pair that did all these jobs, but when she left I forgot to start doing them!:rotfl:

My SIL always had a 'nice' place if you go by 'ideal home' criteria. Anything she hadn't used for 6 months or was unlikely to use in the next 6 months went straight in the bin. Chrimbo deccies were binned after 12th night, she gained a couple of sizes after her son was born so all the 'too tight' clothes went. The boy had an otterman in the living room for ALL his toys. Any toys he didn't put away before bedtime got automatically binned, no exceptions. Getting new toys meant he had to choose what older toys went to make room.

Never liked her place, too sterile for me, much prefer lived in homes.

If your kids are happy and having fun then imo your home really is a home. Never a shortage of people telling us how we should be living our lives so my motto is (to paraphrase Bette Midler) 'Stuff them if they can't take a joke.'

Guilt free clutter and mess... heaven on earth.

Forgive me for I have sinned..

I am currently running the flylady thread...

I just had to throw 3 of my daughters dummies in the bin as they had holes in.. and I bought her replacements... she is 3.5... I can't find any of the hundreds she has because my house is such a sh!tpit.

I have 4 coats on the floor.. just in this room..

I have a box containing 12 odd shoes.. and I have no idea if we even have the other ones in the house.

I have crumbs on my cupboard shelves.

and last week I did NOTHING off my flylady list!!!

    I haven't vacuumed upstairs for 4 months.

Many thanks Gingham for starting this thread! :rotfl:

I once looked at the FlyLady thread but stopped reading when I realised my whole house is a hotspot!

My decorating style is best described as "post burglary"

    What's an iron?

That reminded me of years ago our neighbours were away on holiday. One day we noticed that their back door was open. We called the police and went in with them. It was unbelievable, there was stuff strewn over all the floors in all the rooms.

'My god,' said dh 'they've given it a real going over!'

The cop replied, as he looked around the house 'I think we'll find they haven't been burgled sir, no thief would be able to find anything in here!'

He was right. They had come back to get some stuff. The house looked like something from Aggie and Kim.

They were a fun couple though. She told me once that she daren't see an old boyfriend of hers as she couldn't resist falling into bed with him! She also told me she still liked to sit on her mum's knee for a cuddle. They drank like fish and smoked like chimneys and were both teachers.

    Hi there

As a newbie fly lady I must say that I just use the fly lady thread for motivation and they all seem really nice on there :j

BUT.........on Friday Madam PigPen gave a list that involed the children helping. I thought whaaaaay I have no kids and have done nothing since friday :rotfl:.

So even tho I live on my own you can no longer see the kitchen sink for washing up.
I had no clean undies  so went and bought new ones rather than put the washer on.
Whilst at shops managed to spend £20 on well.......nothing useful :o

Hi pigpen-you were the last person I expected to find on here-you always seem so very organised. On ther clutter clearing thread you always seem to have a bin bag in hand clearing stuff, throwing stuff away. I imagined your house to be gleaming-like something out of a magazine. I am so pleased that you have made your confession. You make me smile (and no, not in a pervy way!!!:rotfl: )
