  • Its a completely standard zetec, your taking the mick with your price

If you get much over a grand £1050 you are doing well

The car is not worth what you think it is, in esssence its a standard, run of the mill cheap car when knew and your still wanting about a 1/4 of its value at 10 years old

My husband just got a new Ford Galaxy.
He traded in his 3 & a half year old Skoda Octavia estate, diesel, full service history, but very high milage for 2K.

You will still have that Fiesta in another 10 years.

there was a face lift model that came out after yours and before 2002,with sharper headlights,grill,etc...
if youve researched your car as much as you say you have you would have noticed this.

Ah, that will be the finesse then. I'm comparing prices with other Zetecs, so I haven't looked at that spec. When harveybobbles said the 'new shape' I automatically pictured the 2002-2008 shape. Also, the post said "FORD Fiesta 1.25 Zetec ".. as far as I'm aware, it's either a zetec or a finesse, they're two different cars with different engines. Could be wrong though..

No there was an intermediary facelift on the fiesta after yours and before the new shape

The shape itself didnt change, but the styling of the bumpers, grill, stereo etc did

The fact is you have a basic zetec with the normal spec

It isnt worth what you think

Its a good thing your happy keeping it because you wont sell it at the price you want

    This is the facelift.

An S reg Fiesta has got to be worth between £800-£1200, I'd not pay more.

    OK...
I don't know much about the fiestas with the 'intermediary facelift', like I've said, Ive been comparing prices with other 98/99 normal spec zetecs. But I appreciate that buyers will prefer these, obviously!

In order to get a new shape fiesta, I would need to raise £1200-1300 from this car sale to put towards to my deposit. But like I said, it's not necessary for me to get a new car, I just fancied an upgrade. If needs be, I'll wait for the current shape to come down in price and then see what I can raise. I'm happy with keeping this car until then :)

Not being rude, just two things you need to consider.

When they come down, yours will be worth even less.

Your car is not worth what you NEED it to be worth to get your next car (thats your problem), your car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Yep, totally understand that. But by the time they have come down in price, i would of also saved more for a deposit via my savings every month.

I was just looking at brand new car offers at ford bristol street, basically iv just put my car up to see what interest i get, and obviously if someone does want to pay 1200 - 1300 then fine, if not then i can patiently wait a few months until i have raised a decent enough deposit.

Oh and Bristol street offered me £800 for my current car, but the salesman admitted it was worth more than that, and he couldnt offer me anything more as the new car was on offer.

Fords are already going for peanuts new and nearly new, I wouldnt expect the prices to fall much, certainly not enough to make it affordable for you
