When we were buying our Fiesta, we went in (to Bristol Street Motors) and test drove, haggled and then produced the print out of the online broker price... they said they wouldn't match it but could do it for £X (about £100 more than the online price) but only if we paid the deposit that day.... now £100 is £100 but we thought to buy from a local dealer (support the local economy and get local service if anything goes wrong etc) we would pay the extra £100 so we rushed off home to "get the deposit" (to sort out a loan to pay with).

Rushed back to them within 40 minutes, sit down and wait for the bloke we dealt with and he comes over and says "i'm sorry, really bad news.... spoke to my manager and he says we can't do it for £x and could only do it for £x + 700.....

REALLY ANGRY at this point, we walked away and vowed never to buy from BSM... so we bought online and ended up getting it through BSM in the end anyway (albeit a bigger and lot more professional BSM in a close by big city!!)

So I think they are pulling a fast one OP... I too have seen the Fiesta in my local BSM (the idiots mentioned above) right by the road and stickered down the side "£6495".... will even go and take a picture of it for you if you want....

    So frustrating isnt it!

Yeah, that is like what they are advertising at my local BS (£6495) but it's a different matter when you go in and approach them about it.. they pluck another figure out of the air! That's gotta be classed as some sort of false advertising?!

In all fairness to the other salesman though, he honoured the 6495 price, which is all scribbled down in his files, but he wasn't there today. What makes me laugh is, the same 'boss' who confirmed the 6495 price last week, was today 'confirming' the 6995 price! Where's the consistentcy??!

I'll see what the other salesman says tomorrow. I spoke to him yesterday, and he was still talking about the £6495 price, so I can't imagine him going back on his work (but who knows..) he said that it would be this price until the 31st March. But if it's his 'boss' that does the confirming, he could change his mind. If this is the case, I'm going to question why they are openly advetising the 6495 price!

Does he mean 6995 inc metallics? If so, it's the paint bolt on price they seem to be disagreeing with not necessarily the vehicle price which appearsto clearly still be 6495.

It's not cricket that the paint price has changed but there was no contract so prices can change.

Or, could the extra be ONR price. The 150 extra being for first registration, RFL etc
  • I have no real advice for you matt sorry just wanted to tell you my experience with Bristol Street,

we have bought 2 fords from Bristol Street in West Bromwich over the last 2 years and have had no problems with being quoted prices and then going back a few days later and doing the deal.. When my sister bought her brand new zetec s in Sept last year she saw a different salespersons each time but still got exactly the same deal...

Good deal on selling your old fiesta by the way, maybe if it was to someone else you could have pushed for £1250 maybe but being your dad you should probably give him a bit of a discount:rolleyes: .. Fiesta's are usually good selling cars so i don't understand why yours didn't sell but sometimes when you overload your price to much it can put people off even making the phone call..

I have a 2001 model mk5 fiesta the same shape as yours only with the headlights being different...

You did the right thing in never trading your car in to a dealer unless its knackered...

Last year Bristol Street offered us £1000 for an R reg Ghia Fiesta (60k miles) so i don't get why they were offering you £800 for your S reg..

Anyway hope you get it all sorted..

The £6495 price is on the road price.. reg, delivery fees included.. this has already been confirmed.

Metallics are £350 (this was confirmed yesterday) and they also said today that metallics are 350. The £6995 price they were quoting was inc the metallics.. so still £150 more. They were getting the base price of the car wrong. GAP insurance is £199 extra, it's not inc in the price.. so it cant be that either!

Anyway, walking away today must have made them sweat abit. About an hour ago they phoned and left a voicemail, reckons he has some 'good news'.. as if he is doing me a favour, when they were advertising 6495 anyway!!! So Im going back up later.

Yeah.. once I have the car price confirmed, I will push for 12m road tax, eventhough he said it would only be 6.. also want fuel, mats.. and anything extra they can throw in. Also the spare key is £20, so guna ask for one of those thrown in to. See what they say...

ETA: Woody - yeah I know they were taking the pee by offering 800, they went up to £850 in the end, eventhough he admitted the car was worth over 1k. He reckons its costs them £200 to take a car to auction, so that was his excuse... Someone I know has a 2001 fiesta (posh one with leather seats).. and the same BS offered her over 2k last month, but when she went in again last week, they offered her about £1,500. It seems that with this deal, they are making their money back through px rates.
Anyway, yeah my dad is giving me 1k for it, he knows someone who wants it, and this way I get the cash now, rather than waiting.
  • Just to add matt,

you should be able to get the 12months road tax as thats what my sister got with her brand new fiesta..they won't give you fuel though, they said something like only being allowed to put in a certain amount of litres.. you may well get car mats.. don't really know about the spare key..

Have you been offered some sort of Diamondbrite valet, thats good i would recommend it...

Oh right. No.. a valet service hasn't been mentioned yet. The road tax has though, and he was insistent that with the 'deal' price, he could only offer me 6m.. but we will see about that..

I'll let you know how I get on

Talked him into spending another £200 on scotchguarding the interior & getting a special "car-care" kit:rolleyes:

I dont understand this place, i really dont.

Right when you buy a new car, they fill a little form out for you, which includes the price of the car, what car, finance apr and charges etc. I asked last week if there was any hidden charges in this finance, to be told that there is a £10 purchase fee with your last payment.

    Okay fine....

Today, its £95 purchase fee, they say they cant do nothing about it! So in a week the purchase fee has rose by £85!!! I have phoned Ford Credit and asked their advice. They say that purchase fee's are between £10 - £95, with £10 being on the cheaper models of car... which mine would be ( Fiesta Style ).

I dont know what to do, im going to see the same salesman who quoted that £10 to me tommorrow. I really dont feel the need to be paying another £95 at the end of the agreement when i was quoted £10. He even wrote £10 on his little bristol street card with my details on!!!
