The thread title caught my eye and I've read mostly all replies. Something that hasn't been mentioned (unless I missed it) is if you are too afraid to call the helpline Terrified, could you not go to CAB with a friend or relative so you have support? Nothing to worry about by calling the helpline but thought it's one of those things you have to do yourself. By taking someone with you to CAB you won't feel alone.
Hope you get it all sorted and good luck!0 -
Sorry Terrified - but I'd like to insist you make that 'phonecall now.
All the workings out and What's/Why's/Wherefore's are distractions and putting off real help from people who are very experienced at doing this work.
Please don't put it off any longer.
There is no face-saving required on your part, nor any need for justification at this stage.
You've made that first step into the ether by coming on here.
Now it's time for the first step into the Real World of Solutions.
This was the first advice you had and I was delighted that rog2 had kindly crossed to give you his very sound, TRIED, PROVEN AND TESTED ADVICE.
THERE IS NO NEED FOR YOU TO HAVE MORE MATERIAL FOR ANYBODY.
JUST RING, NOW, PLEASE!
Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Please, please, please I implore you to make that call.
Its like getting in a swimming pool, you know it will be cold, will stop your breath, tempt you to tinkle:p , but you HAVE to do it sooner or later, and the sooner you do it, the sooner you will have drawn a line under your problems, and will start the long haul to financial freedom

Hi Terrified. I've just spent a while reading this whole thread and I just want to say well done for finding the courage to post.
Please call CCCS as soon as you can - they're really helpful and Dave's point about having a look on the website first is a good one. Nobody there will judge you and I bet that most of the people you speak to who work for these places have had some sort of debt problem themselves - how on earth do they get to be so understanding otherwise?
Good luck with it all and keep posting xxxBSC member 131 :j Now bring me that horizon...

Ampersand is much scarier than Bob Geldof....... Terri (sorry, will NOT call you Terified!), give in gracefully now & do what she says, it's for the best. Ampersand organising your life does have some compensations as you get gifts of black pudding and other bizarre items through the post
.
Glad you're making progress Terri, and listen to Ampersand......and the rest of us, bar the troll  .
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I don't doubt that, Linda - but your new avatar is making me feel uncomfortable. :rotfl: :rotfl:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
