To be honest its clear from all the messages that the media has a lot in this as people don't understand why banks are borrowing money...its not cost taxpayers anything...has income tax gone up...No....have tax credits...yes!. We have lent Money to Northern Rock but that have enough in mortgages to offset this. I will leave with this ....if you really think that banks should go to the wall, do you really think the country would be in a great position (tax payer or no tax payer).... I know my answer and that of the all the Governments in the World....NO.
Right off now to count some beans just in case!!!
Now my final view £26 billion of tax payer money rammed into one financial institution, child poverty in britain an average of 3 million, need i say any more.oh yes and long term £26 billion of tax payers money leads to 2000 long term job losses at N.R.0 -

Over 500 people have resigned already and most of the rest will be down to usual attrition/retirement. Why are some people so short sighted and believe the media. This same media was saying that something was going on in the Shannon Matthews case.....CLEARLY they were wrong again as she was found safe and well (THANK GOD) and had nothing to do with her immediate family.
Don't believe everything you read!Cashpricezac-Yorkshire:j

You dont know either of the above mentioned issues in anything like enough detail to comment (other than what you have read in the MEDIA , you know , the media youre telling us all not to believe...)
How i wish you had been on the panel when they held question time in Newcastle recently
You would have been ripped to shreds0 -

I agree with with you 100%, and i'm sure that the FSA will successfully prove that it was rumours that made HBOS shares drop and that those offenders will be caught, obviously it wouldn't be a publicity stunt by the FSA to assure panicking investors that there never was any problems.:D after all the FSA has such a solid reputation when it comes to the Banking Industry0 -

Don't attack me when you don't know what YOU are talking about. I live less than 3 miles from Dewsbury and work with someone who quit Northern Rock in Leeds 2 months ago. So these comments are NOT from the media but from people who KNOW the situations and not speculating to sell papers.Cashpricezac-Yorkshire:j

Well then lets have the whole truth about N.R. staff and also the real story about that poor girl if as you say you have the facts to hand.I'm sure that the other N.R. staff that are on this site will agree with you0 -
2000 jobs lost to save money, and yet the idiot zoologist Applegarth, and the Board who caused this, walk away with vast amounts of cash. £49.5 Billion of debt moved offshore, something that even a Government Minister appeared unaware of. And if the shareholders lobby hard enough, no doubt they will get a pile of cash. Anyone else think we are being taken for a ride?
As for the HBOS rumours, lets hope it affects the USA, because they don't seem to tolerate white-collar crooks there, as the NatWest 3 & Conrad Black found out!0 -

I have already said it over 500 people have resigned already since just before Xmas. No one can give reassurances that was not my point at all. As for Shannon this forum is not for that and I am not commenting as are none of the local people, we have no trust in media.Cashpricezac-Yorkshire:j
