Mmmmm, thanks r.mac - just a quick question about the lemons - how many lemons would I have to squeeze for 100ml juice? I can't quite visualize the quantity...

    Hello all. Me again. :D

"Blend all necessary ingredients together with love and understanding, add plenty of sweetness and the milk of human kindness, leave bitterness in the cupboard and keep in a warm atmosphere for as long as possible. Finally bake in a warm heart until absolutely firm. With plenty of give and a little take it should last a lifetime."

As promised by one of the stalwarts of the OS, I received a cookbook in the post this morning. I'm not sure wether I should spare her blushes or not but she knows who she is :T

The above passage is on the first page and I got as far as the "milk of human kindness" and, err, yes, you've guessed right, tears, again :o (at this point, all I can do is  goodbye to any last vestige of macho-ness that I may have had left. I fear it's all gone down the pan  )

This red-eyes business is becoming a habit at the moment thanks to all the kindness on here. I'm lost for words at times and "Thank You" doesn't do justice really but Thank You, all of you. :A :A :A

  • Thankyou so much for the belated birthday wishes.
Its strange ( not too keen on birthdays anyway lol) But yesterday i found myself thinking of Smokeybabe durring the quiet moments. Having been quite poorly myself over the last 18 months. It sure makes me believe in the old addage, 'make the most of everyday'. Thats my new thing for this year.

Not too much happening in the choccie orange house today. DS2 and DS3 are off to the coast with their grandparents tomorrow. So double checking the bags ;) Need to put the BM on and then hang the washing to dry. Its bright and breezy here today. Not sure what our menu is today. Yesterdays meal went to pot when H came home armed with an asda curry banquet for 2 :)

Hope everyone has a good day
((Hugs)) to everyone who needs or wants a hug. Special hugs to Smokeybabe and the babes

    Hi everyone.
Weather not too bad here. I am just off to the gym either that or have a cup of tea and biscuits (naughty or good!)
Youngest sons centreal heating broke down last night so OH is going to see if he can sort it out. Poor boy is still finding life hard but we did see a few smiles from him yesterday.
Bethosboy I don't know if you got my PM I did send you one to thank you for yours but I am new to this so not sure if you got it or not. If not thank you for your kind words much appreciated.
    Hugs to Smokey.
Must dash going to hang washing out before it rains then off to the gym. I have decided to be good.
Everyone have a good day. xx

morning all, very late today as we had a total nightmare last night, the whole family have been having problems with my nephew for about two years, he has completly gone off the rails, smoking, drinking taking drugs, he is violent towards his mum and younger brothers, he tried to set his mum on fire last week  , tried to steal their car, smashed the windows ect, any way he turned up here last night saying that his dad (my brother) had kicked him out, and he has no where to sleep, cue lots of calls to social services, police and my brother, no one would take responsibility for him, my brother said to me 'you deal with him I have had enough' police would not come, social services could not help, so he ended up sleeping on the sofa here, DD came in our room on her matress on the floor as she was scared, and brother would not pick up the phone  , so have had about an hours sleep, phoned social services this morning, who said put him on the train to our office, and we will phone brother and get him to sort it out, social worker said that she has a foster home ready for him, with people used to dealing with troubled youths, but brother and wife will not sign the paper to 'release' him as they would loose the carers allowance they get, I am so fuming with brother, nephew is 14 and has been sleeping rough, and I still have not had a phone call saying thank you or how is he. I have had to take a day off work to sort out his mess

Any way sorry for rant, feel better now :D

    Hello Splodge.

I did get your pm. I generally write a load of drivel at the best of times but as I'm going through it at the moment, I know where your son is and if I can help, I'm here. My apologies for not replying, there's so much going on at the moment. Did I mention that I'm being divorced? :D (not being flippant but if I don't laugh, I'll cry :o ) I just feel fortunate that these fine folk are here to help.

    Martyn.

ps: as I'm typing this I've got Radio 2 on and in a moment of pure irony, Ken Bruce is playing the soul classic "It should've been Me". Aint life strange...

Hi everyone - just popping back in to say get well soon to all those with ear infections, colds, shingles, Bell's palsy and so on - lots of poorly ones again - it's been a long winter.

SPLODGE - (((Hugs))) to your DS - I hope he smiles more often now. He won't feel bad forever - it justs seems that way now.

MARTYN - if you cry it means you need to; don't be worried about it. It's easy for us girlies to cry and not have to worry about the impression it gives, but it doesn't mean you're any less macho if you cry when you're feeling down. I don't think boys or men should try and put on a brave face when a d**n good cry would help.

NELSKI - yes, I found yesterday's thread very moving and felt everyone's heart was breaking; I'm still reeling from the shock so how poor Smoky feels, I can't imagine. I hope a bit later, when she has some time to think, that she feels she can print all the posts off to keep in an album or something. She is bound to get very 'down' days and they could remind her how much we all willed Eric to pull through and how much we all care about her and the children. So much love was radiating from the thread that I so hope she felt it.

Anyway, I've just made some of Twink's hobnobs; half plain but yummy and half chocolatey but yummy. I've eaten six - well, they were a funny shape and spoiled the look of the rest of them, so I had to do something with them. My DGS will love them this afternoon when he comes round after school. There may well be none left when DH comes in later! I ended up with about 40 of them which works out such a lot cheaper than buying them by the packet AND I know what's in them.

Well, I'd better go and get ready to go out so I'll see you all later.

    See you all later.
