Hi everyone, I am a bit like the horses tail

Moiliere - no wonder we get on Marvin Gaye and Radio2! I have only heard his version of "Wherever I Lay My Hat" once and that was a version with Tammy Terrell. As for DJ's Richard Allinson, but he is not on much apart from in the late hours and fill ins (IMHO he makes a better job of the fill ins that some of the presenters . . .)

I've got loads of MG CDs and a fantastic 'Marvin Gaye Live' LP (proper vinyl!) which I paid 50p for in a charity shop. On that, he sings Distant Lover, which is amazing. There is something really special about his voice and when I first heard 'Abraham, Martin and John' I fell in love with it. It took me years to find a CD with that song on it so, until I did, I only ever heard it when Ken Bruce played it. Luckily, my DH loves the same kind of music although he's a bit more 'funky' than me! I just love Motown, Soul and Northern Soul - nothing today seems to measure up to it. It's great to find another fan! Richard Allinson does a brilliant job when he fills in but it's not often enough! Jeremy Vine is too much of a journalist to appreciate good music - sometimes I wonder where he gets his playlist from!

    Hello everyone,

Wow, that's fabulous csarina. I WANT one of those.

Martyn, you're doing fine in the circumstances. Breaking up is horrible, but at least you have us to mull things over with.

Smoky, I hope you find the strength you need to get you through what has happened. Hugs.

I now have 5 solid days alone with a 3 year old as his dad is away. Pass the valium someone!

Hugs to anyone who needs them, and take care all of you.

That's neat Csarina - is the embroidery machined? Do you have templates with the machine, make your own, or how?

    Evening all
Congrats to Mr & Mrs Quiet, I lasted 25 years, now I have a toy boy!
Charlies Mum, re marbles, one of my many jobs is working on a chat line, the marbles are for sound effects.
    Lovely bag Csarina.
Barbara, what a beautiful card, such an appropriate design, I'm really touched.
Happy birthday VickyA & Choc orange.
When I got divorced the song that tore me apart was Family Photo by Pink as one of my DD's took it really hard despite the fact that she'd already left home.
Peaceful day at work tomorrow, no kids in school, so no lunch duty, by the end of the month I'll have earned an extra £80 before tax doing lunch cover.
I too have lit a candle for Eric & am hoping Smokey finds the strength she needs.
    Hugs Hester

I will go through and finish reading all of today's posts, but :money: MSE Martin's on the telly in a few minutes and I don't want to miss that.

Still recovering from tonsillitis while also preparing for a week's holiday in the Yorkshire Dales from Saturday. However, I got so on top of my washing up today that I even put the grill pan in to soak. I can't remember the last time there wasn't something that needed washing up.

I didn't make my spag boll the other day because the mince looked a bit too brown, so I had roast chicken drumsticks instead. They were so nice, I had them again yesterday. Today it was comfort food, very bad for me, egg, chips (HM) and baked beans.

Am toying with doing some baking to take with me on Saturday. Will probably take a chicken casserole I made that's been in the freezer for Saturday's tea. Also have all the usual washing, ironing, packing, tidying, shopping that goes with a break. I'm taking 2 pairs of walking boots with me too as one pair needs breaking in and the other is just plain comfortable.

Hugs to everyone who needs one. I'm off to watch :money: telly now.

Well now, what can I say??

The way I felt earlier this afternoon, this was destined to be one of those quiet voice, very down posts. Due to SWMNBM getting stroppy, again, I had to renegotiate the loan on the motorhome so that she has nothing further to do with it (she was originally a guarantor [sp?] for the loan). Ironically, I now own the 'van, (whooo-hooo), and I can pay the new loan off quicker than the old one :j . Anyway, by the time I'd got all that sorted, the "downs" had taken hold and, (I now hereby  goodbye to any hint of "manlyness" that I possess :o ), I drove home from Bournemouth on the verge of tears. I called in at Te$co's in Poole for the weekly no-mates fix and struggled with this all the way round. I bought 2 Mars Bars on the way out, ate them both and had a quiet sob in the carpark. Got home and had a pint pot of tea and 2 d'oh nuts :o and within half an hour, I felt 100% better. I ought to have learnt the wisdom of eating properly after many years of mountain climbing. I live and learn.

Unfortunately, as I had this dropped on me this morning, I completely forgot to buy some pointy things and stringy stuff for nitting with. Can I buy it online or will eyelash futtering in a wool-type shop be better? And can you people stop going on about "Abraham, Martin and John" please  While I will admit to having a great love of music, there's just something about that song that worries me. Think of the next few lines after: "Has anybody here seen my old freind Martin?" and you'll probably understand why it makes me a bit on edge :D

Mioliere - Radio 2 works for me but I miss Alex Lester. Up at 3 o'clock in the morning, off to work and on the road by 4, home, if at all  , rarely ealier than 8 at night  . Happy days. And I'm old enough to remember when John Dunn was on R2 :o

Donny-gal - got any suggestions for tea??

Splodge12 - when you start to listen to the words, and after a lot of years as a long-distance lorry driver, I have, you find irony in the most innocent of songs :D

Twink - once I've figured the knitting, I intend to learn to play the guitar. (blame Johnny Walker for interviewing the sainted Chris Kristofferson [all bow] last sunday evening. He's been my hero from the first time I saw "Convoy" :D ) Then I'm going to stand for Parliament for the Monster Raving Loonies :rotfl:

    Martyn.

and why is this page so wiiiiiiiddddddde??? :D Edit: that could only happen to me
