You can only connect to WorkBooth with a LAN connection so will need an ethernet cable-at your own expense although most people seem to have one kicking around at home if they are on-line. Various wireless routers have been bandied about but I've found most I've tried have worked-so start with the cheapest and keep the reciept in case you need to exchange it:)

Thanks Duchy, but I am sure I read some where here a wirless router does not work with the workbooth?

Wireless does not work, I have tried lol, you really need to connect with ethernet cable. Most wireless routers also connect by ethernet and I think this is what Duchy meant- I have a combined modem.router supplied by BT - don't know if that helps.

PS - I've not had any initial 'group interview' at all, like some of you seem to have had.

Is this a good or a bad thing?!

    Thanks.

    Night x
I never had a group meeting due to technical issues lol. I was told they were not doing the group meetings anymore but this may have changed. From what I can gather it is basically an Introduction to Teletech.

    Hiya Leigh,

Yep I had an interview for customer service, then was told I'd be great for sales because of my background. Dont worry too much about the questions its not that scary, although I understand what your saying. I was asked if my pc crashed whilst dealing with a customer, how would I handle the call.

Well my answer was simple and obvious, to me anyway, ring the customer back, and appologize for the inconvience!! that type of thing. He also wanted to know a background work history so I told him and the rest was v ery informal and friendly. So you will be fine.

He Put me onto Ellen also who will be contacting maybe today or tomorrow for the sales job, which in hindsight suits me just fine. But like I said I have to get my router up and running if not I will be put on the future candidate list which is also ok.

Take a look at the Job spec for inbound sales that Ellen sent me!!!

Yep definately connect via ethernet as the workbooth system is linux based and does not work with a lot of wireless devices and it really will be easier to get it working with ethernet. Also there is a lot of data transfer occuring during the shift each day so you need as good a connection as possible to the router/ internet. Any instability will take you offline and can cause problems with your logging in again unless you drop offline for 10 mins or so while the server "forgets you".

Now the training begins on the 26th May, if I remember rightly but can someone PLEASE ADVICE, WHAT ROUTER CAN I BUY AND DO I ALSO NEED TO BUY THE CABLE. I have been accepted for the job but need to sort this out first. if not the guy said he will keep on his future candidate list and to send him a email when I have the router sorted.

I don't really know what to with the router when I get it, thats the problem!!!
its really bothering me and this is an opportunity for me to earn some money.

again, i would have to recommend any dlink or linksys router. my friend went and bought a belkin one, and although it seemed to work fine for her (ie passed the tech assesments), the tech guys told her it wouldnt work on the job. her only option is to know buy a linksys/ dlink anyway.

    Hi Snoop,

Many Thanks for the helpful info.

I'm pretty down at the moment, as my Dad has just said, that I can't tie up his landline in the evening / he thinks he wouldn't be able to use the internet.

I'm going to try and talk to him, as I need this job, but I don't hold out much hope!

Please could you tell me, whether or not his broadband would be affected if, say while I was working with a wired (ethernet) connection straight to my Netgear (wired and wireless) router, could he still use his broadband by using the wireless connection to my router?

Surely his broadband wouldn't be affected that way?

    Many Thanks,

    Leigh x

    Hiya Leigh,

Hun I am not sure about your dads concerns. Hopefully someone more knowlegable will come along and answer that question. Hey like you I do need this job so I I understand how you feel. If you get all the infor for the router and all is well, then I see no reason why you wont get the job!!!

Ellen phoned me today and I had a really good interview with her. I told her I was disabled, severe walking problems but it would not affect me working from home. The interview was very informal and I spoke alot about handling customers. So if I get my router up and running all should be well.

She has arranged for me to be interviewed with one of their excecutive managers tommorrow and I don't know if anyone was asked this, but I have to send in my CV which I have done by email. I have call them on a free number so hope all is well and after that Ellen will ring me back and give me the feedback. So I am crossing my fingers, but will just take it in my stride.

Please don't feel down ok, lets just see if dad can use his phone and see what happens.

Leigh73- I am not absolutely sure, but I think others have said that you can have someone else on the internet when you are working. In fact I think there is some people on my training who have two computers going at the same time, that is, one that is logged into workbooth and the other just normal. this means that they do not need to come out of workbooth when we need to go onto some different web sites when we are training (far to much hassle closing down computer to take out cd and then re-start computer in the normal mode, to go onto a particular website for info, and then have to close down and restart computer with workbooth).
I think that you should be ok to work and your dad to use his but perhaps someone-else here can verify this. #It is not that much different from both of you using the internet now at the same time. Don't give up Leigh.
