Following on from the real work at home thread started in
Sept 07, which has been very popular and gained allot of people
a new homeworking job (inc me), for those who don't know that job
is broadband technical support.
Teletech have just started to recruit for a inbound sales

for those who enjoy sales type roles more and would be suited
better in this role than tech support
Here are some details on the Role:

Pay 6.0 per hour plus commission
Hours of operation

Sat and Sun 9:30am -6:00pm
Shifts 19-22 hours per week and will include Saturday and SundayTraining Starts 4/14/08 and will be 32.5 hours per week for 3 weeks. There will be several training classes so the candidate must be available Monday- Friday 4:30 to 11:00pm, Saturdays and Sundays 9:00 – 3:00pm.
Interested applicants can go to www.hirepoint.com/athome and apply to job 004LD,
Good luck to those who are going to apply
and feel free to ask any questions, also this is a good place for people to share there experiences with the recruitment process .

about the 2nd interview, i was told that it was with senior teletech managers as the work is for an existing client (i think we all know who that is). Because it is a brand new sales department they are setting up they want to make sure that the people applying have some sort of either sales or call centre experience. the 2nd interview is all about assessing your existing skills to see if they match what they are looking for. They are not phoning me for the interview i have to phone them (via 0800 number as the managers are in Denver usa). My 1st interview was with Amy not Ellen and she said that if sales did not suit then she would recruit me for the technical department instead.
Oliver - thanks for your help but i finally figured out that my ethernet card is not supported by teletech so i will have to buy the specified Belkin usb 10/100 ethernet adapter. These have been discontinued now so have been looking around for one - the cheapest being £39 from amazon. I am not willing to buy it just in case i don't get a firm offer so will wait and see what happens after the interview and decide then whether to get it or not.
Can u plz tell me what happens in the 2nd interviw in more detail plz..what kind of questions..how long.....i'm nervous.
One more request, can u plz send me ur advice to raj_online02@yahoo.com as i'm confused with the postings here......new to this kind of communication...
thanks in advance

Asiandude007 - I had three interviews. An initial one, then one with Ellen and my final one was with a manager called Mike. After the last one, they usually say you will find out in 3-4 days whether you have been successful or not. Most of the interviews are very informal, asking about how you would deal, say with an angry customer etc, or to tell of a time when you perhaps turned a sale around or something like that. The final interview, I was asked the set up of where I would be working and again, questions regarding how I would deal with certain situations etc. the conference call (unless it has changed in the last few weeks) is normally an introduction to the firm and at the end of it you are scheduled for another interview. It normally only lasts about 45 mins (if it happens at all as things can go wrong lol)Auddel0

Leigh73- I am not absolutely sure, but I think others have said that you can have someone else on the internet when you are working. In fact I think there is some people on my training who have two computers going at the same time, that is, one that is logged into workbooth and the other just normal. this means that they do not need to come out of workbooth when we need to go onto some different web sites when we are training (far to much hassle closing down computer to take out cd and then re-start computer in the normal mode, to go onto a particular website for info, and then have to close down and restart computer with workbooth).
I think that you should be ok to work and your dad to use his but perhaps someone-else here can verify this. #It is not that much different from both of you using the internet now at the same time. Don't give up Leigh.
Thanks auddel, and Thanks Snoop.
I think my Dad is more concerned about not being able to take / make calls on his phone, as I'll be using the line, taking calls for TeleTech.
I'm not even going to bother suggesting I pay for a second line, as, even though it's no skin off his nose, he won't want to know
Feeling v low now, as I can't go for this job
Thanks x0 -
Leigh73- Oh I see, i thought you meant internet. I don't think your landline would be able to take/make calls while you are working (except of course from the customers). I know it has been suggested to us that we get a second phone number so that our work calls would not be interfered with if family/friends phone. I simply let my family/friends know I am working and they can get me on the mobile. Obviously this would not suit your dad. Why not suggest a second BT number that only you use for work and your dad can keep his old number. Keep trying and don't give up, perhaps if you explained everything he will be ok. Good luckAuddel0

leigh you could always sign up to bt internet and then you get a home hub phone (free in evenings and weekends). This is the set up i have and it means that my DH can accept and make calls on that during the evening while i have the landline for work. Regarding others using the internet while you are working i think that you can as i remember sseeing it on here somewhere but in the TT information they say you can't.
asiandude - as auddel said the second interview is much the same as the first really. it is done with a senior TT sales manager and the questions will be similar to those on the first interview. Don't worry about it too much - its very informal.

I was really hoping to be able to do this job as it suits my home situation but after passing all the assessments I got a call asking about the hours I could do. They wanted 3-9pm for the customer services job and both weekend days. The sales one was a bit later, but not late enough for me, starting at 4.30pm. They said they would get back to me if they change the scheduling. Now I'm thinking I've missed my chance totally.
Does anyone know by chance if they are likely to come up with something better in the future with a later start and what are the chances of them contacting me again if they do. I had half a mind to muddle through with the hours and once my foot was in the door try and change things then.
It's a very disappointing outcome for me, I was pinning my hopes on this job.0 -
sorry to hear that ravenclaw. at the moment all the current trainees have been given working hours that start at 4.30pm for the sales. if you really can't commit to starting at that time i think they will just keep you on the list and contact you when they know they have later start times.0

Wireless does not work, I have tried lol, you really need to connect with ethernet cable. Most wireless routers also connect by ethernet and I think this is what Duchy meant- I have a combined modem.router supplied by BT - don't know if that helps.
Audel is indeed right-For some reason (heck don't ask me the ins and outs I just work in tech support) connecting directly with an ethernet cable fails the security on WorkBooth for some and you need to put a wireless router in-line and the problem vanishes. Seems most "non dongle" type routers work-probably because they all work on the same principle. Hence the original advice. You *CANNOT* run Workbooth wirelessly at all but must connect to your router with an ethernet cable-the wireless router is merely in line.
