I would have to echo the Council Tax (money for nothing) and the water. I don't have mains sewerage and my share of the septic tank bill is £26 a month and Anglian water take another £19 on top of that.
    Loving the dtd thread. x

  • THE WATER BILL!!!!!!!!!!! Why should we pay £200 a year for something that falls from the sky???????????

You'd probably be a but ill if you used water direct from the sky, especially if you happened to drink it!

I think i'd rather pay £200 a year to have my water treated than come into contact with all the water bourne diseases that third world countries suffer!!

Council tax and television licence for me too:mad:

TV licence is such a rip off. I don't watch Tv, OH does but mainly sport on cable which he pays for anyway:mad: . I think the tv licence is outdated and overpriced:mad:

Council Tax - it terrifies me that this goes up and up and up ad infinitem - especially with a retirement coming up when my income will be a third probably of today, and council tax will be about a quarter of my monthly income. Just don't know how I'll manage.

Also - our Council have allowed a transportation company to run it's huge trucks past our houses, the houses shake (I thought the recent earthquake was just another truck at first - so I am less than happy with the Council anyway.

Water the same - they just put it up and up.

We are supposed to have buildings insurance inlcuded in this but it covers virtually nothing - cannot claim on it for a new boiler as it allegedly is not part of the building, it's the contents - not like I can take it with me if I move is it??

Similarly windows/doors, they are responsible either for the frames or the glass only (can't remember which one)

If you do move, then take 'em with you. Get a glazier to cut out the glass and a Corgi bloke to take the boiler. And quote their own bumf back at 'em if they start kicking off.

Not a huge fan of council tax but then again I do like having restaurants that are safe to eat in, licensed pubs, street lighting, use of the library, fire brigade etc.

My big bill bugbear is DH's life assurance - £166 a month for absolutely nothing (I hope!!) = 50k over the life of the mortgage

This has got to be the highest figure for life assurance I have seen. Have you checked on whether you can get it any cheaper? Unless he is in the forces, very ill, or does paragliding or something similar then I can't understand why it is so high!
