Dont you have to pay for that sky player service though?
I own an xbox, and dont use that service.
Just out of interest, when using the 'online declaration' on the tv licensing website to confirm that i do NOT need a tv licence, do i need to actually give my real name?
Currently all letters are addressed to 'The Occupier' and id like it to stay that way. They have no need to know my name, i dont require a license, simple as that. Id just like the letters to stop.0 -

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS - do not let TVL indoors, do not speak or say anything to them. Do not answer the door, or if you do, and find out its them, close the door in their face (they are used to it). They will lie and cheat and use anything you say to incriminate you, or have you incriminate yourself.
In short, Ignore them and their letters. If they bother you by visiting, write (anonymously if you wish - as 'The Occupier') and Deny Implied Rights of Access. It works. If they come after that notice is issued, they are trespassing (be sure to record any such visit by camera or video, and sue them). You might think this will draw more attention to you but, believe me, when the boot is on the other foot (and they think you will make a legal case against TVL/BBC) they will comply to avoid 'bad publicity'.
Do no hesitate to write to your MP (though you will find the government/BBC are, to put it mildly, in each other's trousers - and will try to fob you off) as it registers TVL's malpractice, harassment, etc.
Above all, do not fear TVL - know your rights, and stand your ground.
Empower yourself!
A letter is in the post today!!!
Do you need a license to watch Virgin TV Choice On Demand?0 -
I don't know the answer to that. If it is not live broadcast (simultaneous) then technically no. I have spoken with a magistrate who told me convictions depend largely on what the bench have seen as a precedent. Most convictions occur when the accused fesses up (either because they did need a licence, or because of intimidation)
There is some discussion about football games (or BNP interviews) that are delayed by some time interval (for various reasons) as to whether or not that constitutes are live broadcast. Again, technically I'd say no, as it is not simultaneous. But I'm not offering any legal advice...0 -

I think that's a misunderstanding/incorrect use of the term live broadcast. It's not about whether the content itself is live or not, just that the content itself is actually broadcast (broadcast to many) at the time rather than on demand (one to one on request). Any content that is recieved on demand rather than from a specifically timed broadcast does not require a licence. E.g. You watch Spooks on TV on BBC One, even though it's not a "live programme" you are watching it as it's being broadcast. That requires a licence. If instead you watch exactly the same episode on demand, i.e. you use iPlayer (whether on your computer or TV, it's irrelevant) then you're not watching it as it's broadcast and so does not require a licence."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes, I think it means 'as transmitted' / at the time transmitted (broadcast).0

Practically all TVL's convictions occur as a result of a "confession".
As TVL's employees are paid commission they will use any method to entrap you.
A common one is to get you to sign a "confession", and say that if you buy a Licence that will be the end of it - people sign, the man goes away, you get a summons in the post a week later, he gets his bonus - seemples !0 -
Correct. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. Once they have your signature, you have 'contracted with them. Beware.0

I had a long heated talk with them on Friday and they said if you have a TV etc or even an xbox you need a license.
They are wrong, capable is not the same as actual, (as in actually receiving said signal to watch the programme as it is being broadcast), see post #289 on the previous page, (10).Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

So if i fill in the online declaration that i dont require a tv license on the website, is it ok to put my name as 'The Occupier'?
I dont want to get into trouble for putting a false name etc, but i dont see why they need it, i dont need a license, and they dont need my personal details.0 -
