you still need a licence, unless you only watch ITV via their catch-up service0 -
If you watch or record live TV, any channel, you need a license.
If you use BBC iPlayer, you need a license.
If you never watch or record any live TV and never use BBC iPlayer, you don't need a license.
For example, if you only watch Netflix, Now TV box sets, and 4OD, you don't need a license.0 -
I only have broadband and do not watch BBC iPlayer or most of the rubbish they show on live TV. Did not have TV Licence for past couple of years and have no regrets. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime and have Fire TV Stick.
Even if I did have terrestrial cable in my house, which I do not, good luck proving that I am watching live TV from behind closed curtains.0 -

Encouraging people to break the law is contrary to forum rules.
People who watch live TV but don't have a license are criminals.
People who only watch Netflix, box sets, and (non BBC) catch up are moneysavers.0 -
This is the legal position.TV_Licensing_website wrote:
Do I need a TV Licence?
You need to be covered by a TV Licence to
* watch or record programmes as they’re being shown on TV or live on an online TV service
* download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer.
This applies to any provider you use and any device, including a TV, desktop computer, laptop, mobile phone, tablet, games console, digital box or DVD/VHS recorder.

What is live TV and when do I need a licence for it?
Live TV means any programme you watch or record as it’s being shown on TV or live on any online TV service. It’s not just live events like sport, news and music. It covers all programmes on any channel, including soaps, series, documentaries and even movies.0
