TV Licence article Discussion

I would need to select one of these options even though they do not apply.
You don't need to do anything.
Would you contact the police, to inform them you don't need a FAC/SGL?
Would you contact the NRA, to inform them you don't need a Fishing Licence?
Would you contact DVLA, to inform them you don't need a Driving Licence?
Would you contact the CAA, to tell them you don't need a Pilots Licence?
Simply ignore TVL, and get on with the more important things in your life, like watching a painted wall dry.0 -
If I select this option I am lying because I do not watch films or TV series on any medium. If I select this option I am lying because I do not watch on demand/catch up TV on any deviceIf I select this option I am lying because I do not watch on demand/catch up TV on a TVIf I select this option I am lying because I do not own a TV or a console; I play games on my desktop. If I select this option I am lying because I am not covered by a TV license at alland if I select this option I am also lying because I have other devices (a mobile phone and the desktop I am using now)
You can relax on all counts because, lying to TVL is not an offence.0 -

Oh well, plan B. Send the letter to them without a stamp, and Royal Mail will charge them £2.00 for the privilege :THer courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
I've just been reading an article on here called Do I need a TV licence?
Two points I'd like to highlight and comment on:-Anyone who no longer requires a TV licence; including those who pay in cash at certain shops or Post Offices, who don't need to do the above, can fill out a 'no licence needed' declaration form.
Notice the word is "can" not "must". There is no legal obligation to make this declaration.Once you've cancelled, you might find you get a visit from TV Licensing to check whether you actually do need a TV licence
Please be aware that you do not have to let them in.
In both these cases, I would strongly advise acting in the negative.0 -

Those are good reasons not to have anything to do with them, and if you get fed up with their attempts to use bluster and bullying, to unleash the legal "big guns" like the Human Rights Act and PACE, against which they are powerless.0 -
A declaration is simply a statement. It doesn't have to have any legal standing.0

I think if an organisation is linking it to investigation of a criminal offence, it probably should be completely transparent about what the nature of something like this is, or it should be made completely clear that it isn't required, and that one can ignore it without prejudice.
The whole BBC-TV Licensing regime seems to be in an awkward legal "No man's land" that as far as I can see renders it unlawful. This "declaration" is just more of the same approach (where mere whims and marketing tools are dressed up as a quasi-official enforcement regime).0 -
I am thinking of ditching my TV licence at the end of September 2018. If I record programmes from the BBC on a digital recorder whilst I have a licence may I watch them back later when I do not have a TV licence?0

Yes.
There may (technically) be copyright issues if you plan to keep your recordings for a long while, but no TV Licence is required.0
