We moved into a house in March and so far haven't had anything from TV licensing, I am sure its coming though, eventually.

We watch catch up tv on netflix and on our android box mostly, but i do watch a bit of footy it has to be said!

I dont want to pay for the BBC's rubbish :)

If you are watching live football you need a licence. But you never watch Match of the Day or any other BBC football coverage because it is 'rubbish'?

It's not live football that requires a Licence, but watching or recording ANY TV broadcasts as they are being transmitted.

The word "live" is somewhat unhelpful in this context.

I want to cancel my T.V licence as I've heard it's all a huge scam.
I don't watch T.V and the rest of the family watch Sky. Never BBC or live streaming (is there anything live as in broadcast, as far as I'm aware most programs are made 2-3 months previous.)

Now when I moved in to the property I've paid quarterly obviously with the first payment being on time.
I've looked back to 2013 and just realised they've charged me £5 more, than the £145 everyone else pays.

I pay by direct debit it leaves my account well before the date it is due.
So I make a complaint to the company they make some story that I'm in arrears?? Eh!!

I tell them how can I possibly be in arrears if you receive the money in advance before whatever date it's due? I also reply with:- if I pay one lump sum for the full year ahead will I still be charged £5

Another person gets back to me by saying every quarter there is a surcharge of £1.25.
But on their invoice it says "Pay by direct debit at no extra cost." Oh really!?
Then they add to make sure I get the 'it's the Parliamentary requirements to have a T.V licence.' (Or along the lines of this.) it's an act not the law to have a T.V licence.
Correct me if I'm wrong

Another question I have is we spend a lot of our time touring around the country on holiday watching a lot of T.V (well the family do, I watch the occasional DVD.) why don't we pay when we're in the caravan? Same thing home caravan? T.V aerial attached or not. I'm fuming with the licence.

And another thing companies pay BBC for their programs, it's a fund where does this fund money go to? Why is Capita involved in sending goonies to threaten people in their homes?

Are we paying for !!!!!philes?

Sorry, but you need a licence. Paying the licence fee doesn't allow you to watch BBC channels, it allows you to watch LIVE TV on any channel - and that means anything at the time that it's being broadcast, including on +1 channels.

A touring caravan doesn't have a fixed address for it to be licenced at, so it's covered by your home licence. If you don't have a home licence you can't legally watch in the caravan either. Note : The caravan isn't covered if there's someone at home watching TV http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/faqs/FAQ30

I suggest you should have read more of the thread before having your rant as all your points have been covered.

No. It's many things, but not really that.
I don't watch T.V and the rest of the family watch Sky.
Then you need a Licence (for Sky).
I've looked back to 2013 and just realised they've charged me £5 more, than the £145 everyone else pays.
That's how quarterly payments work. If you don't want to pay extra, you can have monthly payments instead. (Which is more complicated and involves paying half the fee in advance). If you pay £145.50 in one go, once a year, then you do not have to pay a surcharge, either.
I'm fuming with the licence.
Then get rid of it. You & the family will be able to watch catch-up TV for the time being (unless/until they change the law). ITV are challenging the proposals, so it could be some time before things change.
And another thing companies pay BBC for their programs, it's a fund where does this fund money go to?
Never heard of that before. Any details?
Why is Capita involved in sending goonies to threaten people in their homes?
Because the BBC hire Capita to do it.
Are we paying for !!!!!philes?
I expect the Dame Janet Smith Enquiry will answer that question - if they ever publish their findings.

I hope this is the correct place to ask this question re TV Licence. Is a licence for and on behalf of the owner of a property, or for and on behalf of the property itself For example, If I apply for a TV Licence for the house of my parents and receive the licence for their house (the licence is in my name at their address although I do not live there) is that legal? Many thanks for any advice.

A Licence is for the premises. It doesn't appear to matter whose name is on it, as long as it remains in force i.e. paid for. If it expires, then TV Licensing will contact the named Licence-holder to "make enquiries". Obviously, if that person is not resident, then that can confuse matters.

I used to pay for my in-laws licence, but had it in their name at their address with payments being taken from my bank. TVL had no problems with that set up and I seem to recall I received a copy of the payment schedule at my address, but things may have changed in the 9 years since I stopped paying it.

• I have read and heard hundreds of people’s various comments/videos about the many reasons why people should not pay the BBC TV Licence. Not anywhere have I heard anyone mention the fact that it is illegal “Extortion” for anyone to forcefully make you pay for something that you do not want or need.
I do not want anything whatsoever from the BBC or their Associates, do you? And if it meant burning every device I have and even if the TV licence was only Ten Pence per year, as a matter of principle I would not pay it simply because I am being told I have to pay for something that I do not want. In the same way that you are forced to collect VAT for the government at your own expense and own liability; it also is extortion, immoral and illegal.
As with most laws, they rely on submission from the meek and naive among us, so to enable their enforcement!
Over the years the BBC have modified the Communications Act Communications (Television Licensing) Regulations to meet their immoral needs to the point that you now need a TV Licence even if you do not have a TV. The fact it states TV (Television) should limit the possible requirement of a licence purely to owners of TV’s. Regardless of what other devices you may own, or what they have the capability of, they are not known as TV’s and their primary function is not to watch live or recorded TV from.
The BBC and their colluders are simply protecting a revenue stream to which they have become accustomed to and rely upon, and it would not be farfetched to assume that eventually you will even need a TV licence if you own anything which has the ability to even house any equipment capable of receiving live broadcasts. It is also imminent that they are going to modify the law again so you will need a TV licence for even non-live (recorded) broadcasts as it is effectively their property.
Most devices today have many functions with the capability of doing many things. Regardless of what a device can or cannot do, it is up to me what I choose to do with that device. I do not want any service or product whatsoever from the BBC or its Associates, and it is up to them to remove my ability to access their products/services from my devices remotely, whatever the devices, be it a TV, Computer, or Mobile Phone.
