Be careful not to get it onto the brake discs behind the wheel.....or you won't be stopping for a while ;)

I always call the breakdown man - even though I am quite capable of doing it, just don't want to break a nail or get wet/dirty :o

Oh yes, re the WD 40, only a wee squirt on the wheel nuts, no liberal spraying allover the wheels as it may get into the back of the wheel, calipers/brakes etc and not good.

Alternatively, if you have AA cover or whatever, consider using them... they will have a pneumatic jobbie to unfasten them...

So frustrating and ruins your whole day i know Shal!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Have to confess, I did just shed a few tears a minute ago, partly relief, partly because I'm a bit tired, I didn't sleep well last night, I was awake at 2,4 and 6.

I had all the old Sunday night frightened about Monday morning meeting feelings in my head even though I told myself it was going to be different and partly because (difficult to describe) I can see what I had been reduced to - scared to take on a job I could do standing on my head when I was 21, never mind about at nearly 38 and how utterly useless I had been made to believe I am by you know who, who I can't talk about for legal reasons but I know most of you know who I mean ;)

I think I need chocolate. I've got a bit of a headache though so it might not be a good idea.

Stuff it, I'm going to have some anyway. I've got some chocolate pear cake that needs eating in the fridge that i can warm up as well as some leftover chocolate sauce I can heat up.

I'm already doing it Sar - the magic of the microwave! I've used all the leftover chocolate sauce so I might feel a bit sick later!

  • Long timer lurker here! Though I might as well join in and pass the time while at work. Well done Keren on the new job - sounds fab! It's always good to be involved in lots of different things - variety is the spice of life and all that! ;)

Congratulations on the new job Keren. You will be totally fine and you sound as though you have fitted in nicely already.

It makes such a difference working for a decent place after a bad experience as it really does make you think employers are all the same when you are having such a bad time at work. I was once witness to a terrible bullying case at my last place of work and it made me sick to see this every day and the victim was too scared of losing her job to do anything about it. I saw her recently and she has a new job and loves it but I know the experience affected her badly.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

But Keren, it's Tuesday today :p I do understand what you mean though - it's a really bizarre feeling to have such uncertainty about ones ability to undertake tasks that you have easily done previously. I was the same after being "encouraged" to leave a job I loved by a line manager who felt threatened by me - it's a horrible experience that I would never wish on anyone.

I have to add that I had the last laugh - after leaving in January 2004, my name is still on the letters that go out from my old section, because nobody else knows how to get into the back of the system to change it ;)

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
