My two are comatose on my bed with furry bellies full of breakfast...Dennis will be down in an hour or so to see what our elderly neighbour has to offer him but Maureen will be asleep all day.

Morning everyone. I'm still a bit undecided about the house. We had the mortgage AIP yesterday which is a start. Hmmm oh I dunno, I have a list of reasons why this place isn't the best for us and the only reason I've got for not buying the other house is I'm worried about the state of the housing market. I've got the 'what ifs' going on. We can afford the morgage easily but what if we need to move because of work in a year or two and the markets have dropped and what if there is a major resession and the music industry grinds to a halt. I honestly really don't know what to do. I keep telling myself that I'd carry on saving, all be it half of what I can save here and rather than overpay for the time being we'd leave it in ISAs for an emergency fund.
I guess the debt free lifestyle has become so ingrained I'm finding it really hard to get into debt again, even if it is a mortgage.
I think the operative phrase here is "risk management".
Write down your risks and consequences and how you can ameliorate them.
Don't neglect "low probability" risks. If they would be devastating - include them. For example: If EMI go bust - where would that leave you?

Cool names for cats - Dennis & Maureen!! My last one was called Stanley, and the previous one was called Oliver because he always asked for more.....;)
Love it! Mine are called Kipper and Clyde - Clyde is the greedy guts of the house. I can't leave my breakfast alone or he'd lick the marmite off my toast. The other one's just as bad, he loves the milk out of cereal (but won't drink milk on its own). I got them as kittens from a chef, but they had already developed a taste for all kinds of mad stuff. Olives, rice, long-dead pigeons...

Cats RULE!
Dennis often follows me around, I think he's convinced that I conjure up roast chickens from thin air when he's not looking.

We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

We had Sylvester & Tabitha when the kids were small - Tabitha would eat Rich Tea biscuits, and Sylvester would lick a Polo mint for ages, until it went too sticky for him. All our cats have drunk cereal milk but not fresh milk (unless it's been sitting long enough to set - bleagh!), Stan used to eat scrambled egg too, and shepherds pie.....0 -
Dennis is rather partial to a cheese and onion crisp!

Morning all!
My cat is called Jenson (interceptor, vroom vroom! Car mad me!) She had a pal called Bentley, but he died a couple of years ago.
we also have a lodger cat called Black Bob, real name Patch apparently, but it's at ours most of the time and answers to Bob now, well when it's not ignoring us! No manners these lodgers!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Remember Maz, as far as Bob is concerned, YOU"RE the lodger!
Dogs have owners
cats have staff!
