Its also a good idea to pick up receipts that have been left at the checkout or thrown on the floor. Pick em up, take them to customer services and claim the points!!

I've never collected airmiles, 'cos you seemed to need so many, but am very tempted by the Disneyland Paris idea - my little girl would love it. Right now I am chuffed to bits to have 12 vouchers for renting DVDs in my bag (plus rent one get one free vouchers from Seven Up which my hubby bought home) for £11.25 in vouchers. Basically I haven't paid to rent a DVD for at least 9 months now as we probably get 1-2 per month. Next time I get a mailing I will scour it for offers. I am also tempted by the Legoland offer. Happy hunting everyone.

I appreciate that the following question is going to make me sound like the thickest person you've ever met that somehow manages (goodness knows how) to have the ability to type (lol) but...

When you buy things at Tescos with your clubcard you get 1 point per £1 spent.

If you pay using your Tescos Credit Card you get 3 points per £2 spent.

So my question is: Do you get the extra points, i.e if I spent £10 do I get 10 points on my clubcard AND 15 points by paying with my Tescos c/card???

Perhaps I'm just being greedy...but every little helps :D

Many thanks in advance and please accept my humble apologies for being such a dimebar

Its okay I phoned tescos credit card to confirm how the points are added, and you don't get both...thats a shame :(

Still sounds like it could be worth it, will have to sit down and have a think about it as moving money about to cover the amount spent on the credit card could get a bit annoying and time consuming let alone the temptation to use the credit card for extra things. :naughty:

p.s Does anyone know if Tescos credit card have promotions were if you apply for one they give you extra points?

I've only ever used clubcard vouchers against my shopping up until now (I know, I know, slapped wrist) but as I read the thread about extra points on organic burgers etc. I took a closer look at what I could use "deals tokens" for. Turns out there are quite a few useful things you can use them for (car servicing and MOT). More recently though I read with interest posts about the (now well known) beef in gravy. I was particularly struck with a post from bylromarha....who was celebrating getting enough points for a holiday in NZ. I'd never considered I'd ever have enough for a holiday....but this was intriguing....

I really want to go Australia, and I'd love a holiday....I have a plenty of time, since I took redundancy in March, but for the same reason... not much money for such luxuries.

Thing is I couldn't get the idea out of my head - bylromarha had proved it could be done :). I spent the next few days convincing myself that the idea was more genius than madness. I went to town and got a few brochures to whet the appetite, and began looking in the chiller cabinets for the elusive beef in gravy.

I managed to find 20 one night at my local "extra" store, but at the till I had a run in regarding using coupons (a whole other story) and they rather gleefully told me I could have only 5 of one item. I queried the exact rules at customer service, and they explained them and went on to suggest that I might like to place a special order. I'd read about this on the thread so I asked if there were any limits.....and they said no.

I figured that a bulk order would be a much easier way to get the beef I needed, even though I wouldn't be able to use any coupons or home delivery discounts. I then needed to decide how much to spend in an ideal situation. I came up with a figure of £750 which balanced finances with possible holiday costs. An IBT (ideal beef target) of 1,140. ;)

I placed my order by phone giving them no more than quantity and my name and phone number. The delivery was to ocur a few days later. A few phone calls back and forth (they tried to enforce a 120 pack limit) and my order was in place.

Excellent!....except I don't like beef :) I'd pm-ed bylromarha asking for advice on a few aspects of this and she'd suggested contacting salvation army and local homeless hostels, which I thought was an excellent idea, and added an extra dimension to this deal...if it needed making any sweeter. I spent a morning calling local hostels and the salvation army, asking each if they knew of any other organisation who might want some beef. After a lot of calls I'd figured I could place all the beef, though it seemed like I'd be making a few trips to nearby towns/cities. Luckilly during one call it was mentioned that there was someone working for my local council who drives round the local hostels etc. delivering food donated by supermarkets (sell by stuff). He also had two large freezers. Brilliant. I arranged to meet in tesco car park.

I couldn't quite believe it on the Friday when I called tesco and they said the order was in and ready to collect. I paid, and actually forgot to hand over my clubcard in the buzz and had to go to CS to have the points put on manually. I did laugh....me and my cage of beef had just been through the 10 items or less till - just the 1,094 over, nevermind.

I loaded up my car's boot with beef as I'd promised a hostel in Chichester some beef, and the rest was loaded onto a van to be distributed to homeless hostels around Portsmouth (and or stored in freezers for later deliveries). Th estaff at the hostel in Chichester were really grateful - they said meat isn't often served in the meals there.

So, I managed to get about £575 in points, which is worth 4x that towards a holiday or anything else I decide to use them on. Unfortunately I think I missed the cut-off date for my points vouchers to come this month but I am hoping...

I figured that this was well worth doing because I could essentially get a holiday for 1/3 of the brochure price and if not that, then there would be lots of others things to use my points for. Also the points vouchers are valid for two years (and I read that expired vouchers will be reissued) and deals tokens 6 months - ample time to use the points in my tesco "bank". Even though I don;t know exactly what I'll use the points for yet, and that I shouldn't really afford them, I think this is a good investment that will pay off when I come to use the points.

I very much enjoyed the toe separator hunt at boots, and the fragrance free / cucumber bonanza at boots and was really happy I'd be able to be part of a comical situation at the expense of tesco. I've enjoyed reading about the man who bought bananas in the early days of clubcard (they were paying him to take them away) and the guy who got a seat on the last concorde flight by buying biscuits.

Whilst the charitable aspect of the deal wasn't the primary motive it did feel very good to realise I just gave £750 worth of food to some people who really appreciated it, and of course it hadn't cost me anything except a bit of effort.

If you are considering joining in ... look into it (there are some t & cs), as has been stated some of the things will be available cheaper - the brochure holidays at full price can be quite expensive compared to late deals etc. but the discount in my case far outweighs this.

example holiday to Hong Kong & Oz, including hotels.... £1,499 = £375 in points, or £495 in beef :) (approximately). That has to be good.

Blimey thepearce sounds like you've been busy...I hope you have a great holiday when you book it.

I have been mulling this all over, went to my mums for tea tonight and saw £10 worth of club card vouchers pinned to the notice board and asked her whether she was going to use them at the checkout or cash them in for deals. She said she would use them at the checkout so I told her what I was trying to do, she suggested asking people I knew if they would let me buy their vouchers from them and I asked her about hers and she said she would give me hers...bless her.

I am still looking into the plausability of a tesco credit card, I work in mystery shopping so I often have to buy stuff so could easily do this on the credit card to earn extra points. Just need to check something out about hubbies credit status, as I would want to set up a credit card for him with me as a second card holder and that way try and apply for a platinum card which will earn me more points for transactions outside of tescos. Not sure how successful this will be but I will speak to the bank tomorrow and then we can try to apply for a credit card and go from there. :)

Mossy, I too am going to use my dad's and in laws vouchers. According to tesco h.o. though, the vouchers have to be converted to deal vouchers by the person who they belong to, so you'll have to ask your mum to convert them then give you the deals tokens.

unless the girl made this up, and someone on here knows better!

I found that looking at the Haven Holidays, also Butlins - especially with late deals, which are often half the brochure price or less, so using deal vouchers for some of the products available is not always best value!

Yes you can usually get a better deal than the brochure price for most holidays, but don't forget the "Tesco" price is effectively a quarter of the brochure price, and you'd be hard pushed to beat that anywhere.

We had a great holiday in Butlins recently courtesy of Tesco, half-board and in the best accommodation they offer. And it didn't cost us a penny.

And thanks to the beef, our next holiday should be a little further afield.

Yep I'm sure I've read a post somewhere were the person said the same thing...I think I'll get them off her now so that she doesn't get tempted to spend all those lovely vouchers and then I can give them back to her to redeem for me.

Bless them they say they have loads that are out of date so I explained that you can phone tescos and they will put them back on your card for you. My sister just laughed and said I knew about these things so it must be right...I'm becoming known as the bargin hunter in our family now...I'm sure my mum will be very proud of me :p

    Hello

My mum gave me her clubcard vouchers and I've also bought some on ebay and I changed them to tokens myself with no problems at all.
Ask friends and family, if they're going to use them to pay for groceries, offer to buy them off them, that way they dont lose out and you gain because they're worth four times as much!
I've got Tesco credit card and I get 1 point for every £2 I spend anywhere. if I shop in Tesco then you get points on them as well. I'm currently getting points on :-
    tesco home phone(all phone calls)
    powergen gas
    powergen electric
    petrol
    shopping
recycling old ink cartridges and old mobiles.

sign up for all the clubs too! Kids, baby and toddler, wine club, food club and healthy living. Some people on here have put their pets names in the kids and babies clubs just to get vouchers!

Register your friends and family for the clubs as well because if they get more vouchers to boost their points, you will gain if you have/buy their vouchers!
The last time I sent off for deals tokens, I sent some of mine, my mums and my sister in laws and got the tokens back three days later.

    Well chuffed!
