Council house entitlement!!!

Some of the people posting in this thread make me thoroughly ashamed to be a member here. The same usual Little England "Why should they get subsidised rent when we have to pay full price" malarkey, all knowing the price of everything but the value of nothing... it's ridiculous.
If or when you have to support two or three children one one income, or you lose your home, or you can't afford to rent privately, you'll be grateful for "subsidised housing". This poor woman isn't a leech - she's willing to pay for a bigger house (I've certainly not seen any evidence to the contrary, anyway) and has a reason.
I myself am on the list for subsidised housing, simply because I cannot afford to rent privately on my salary and probably won't be able to for some time to come, especially not in this area. I work hard, pay taxes... does it make me a leech to not want to spend more than half of my monthly income just to get a roof over my head, no more? I'm living in a council house now, simply because the alternative is too expensive for my family to afford. Does that make us leeches? Don't forget that everyone here is entitled to the same things based on the same criteria; nobody's victimising you for having a job.
To the OP: diatribe aside, depending on how often your partner is with you, I very much doubt you'd be able to get a larger house, although it could be worth checking with your council/housing association and asking.0 -

This forum seems to be getting nastier & nastier.
Well of course, how DARE she expect the council to do its job and provide subsidised housing which she is willing to pay for? The way some people go on, anyone who's ever used anything taxpayer funded is leeching off their hard work and should be begging for their pennies. :rolleyes:0 -
Maybe you could buy the place and have the loft converted?[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]

Is council housing subsidised? Or is it just non (or minimal) profit making, BIG difference.
If people are paying their full rent, where is the handout?
I suspect the reason council houses are so much cheaper than private is not because they are subsidised but because no landlord is making a tidy profit off it.
My daughters friend rents a one bed (or could even be studio flat) from the council & its nearly £100 per week. She may have the council tax (for solo household) factored in this sum, I don't know. But its not chicken feed:rolleyes:0 -
Knock another kid out, Works for most of the locals here.
I was tempted to do the same, quit my job, get my fiancee pregnant and get a free house for life... seems a good plan to me

I agree that on some threads people should be ashamed of their remarks; however when reading this thread the postings which shocked me the most have actually been posted by Eli, the OP.I hope you judging lot never end up loosing your home, sharing B&B with scum bag druggies with kids that get priority,
do you know I cant even be bothered to spell check this lot, im sure some of you will mention that too,m get a life and thank god im not bitter and twisted like some of you, let the flames commence you morons!!If I may be so blunt........

Please don't think that I am here to have a dig at Eli, I'm not. I simply don't believe she should be provided with a larger house so the extra room can stay empty for approximately 85% of the time (used 2 nights out of 14), as I believe there are more worthy causes. Of course I feel sorry for her partner's son as he has to sleep on the settee when he comes to stay; however life isn't perfect and sometimes we just have to get on with it.
My point is that just because some people have indicated that she shouldn't be entitled to a larger house doesn't mean that this is an unfriendly forum. All I would say is that please take into account the postings from Eli before lambasting others for their 'unfriendly' remarks.
I really hope you get things sorted Eli...0 -

She asked a question thats all.
I got balled out in the arms & accused of being rude, because I missed out a comma:rolleyes:
Without the comma it "could" have been read as rude, with the comma not rude.
It was rapidly "assumed" as being rude & I was "told off" for it.
Before I had a chance to explain myself - leaving aside for the moment should I have had to explain myself at all, when it WASN'T rude:rolleyes:
Well, in the time it took me to explain about the sentence structor they were steaming in, hitting the THANKS button for the person that accused me of being rude. The thanks count was practically going up by the second, all getting a dig in.
I bit back, as the OP here has done, its very easy to when multiples of people pile in with their cr4p & 2p worth.
I was then hung, drawn & quartered for daring to defend myself & not take the abuse.
It got so bad, it actually made me cry. Even after I begged people to stop & said how upset I was, two more people still piled in for a boot. A host of others then posted defending themselves saying it was my fault for A) not explaining quick enough &
daring to fight back.
I WILL NOT POST IN THE ARMS ANYMORE, there are some very strange & nasty people in there & in other parts of MSE.
Are they sad people who were bullied at school & sit behind a computer screen being mean, nasty & sarcastic to people to get "revenge".
Eli, s0d em, load of b1tches & stirrers.
Take no notice of little hitlers who get their kicks out of abusing, bulling & ganging up on people on an internet forum.0
