IF you are going to quote people in your posts. You should attach the name of the person that actually made the quote.
You have attached emily jacksons' name to my quote.
Its really not on to use the quote button & name if you don't use the correct name.
I said it not emily jackson & you should edit it so your post is correct in who it names (& shames).0 -

Actually I think you will find it was emily jackson who was concerned with being mis-quoted.
If you are going to quote people, then you should attach the correct name of the person who said it.
To misquote emily jackson is not fair on her.
Just amend your post so you are not putting words in her mouth - literally:rolleyes:0 -

She's not trying to draw you back into a futile discussion, she's just asking you to be more careful when you post!0 -

Wowsa! Some of the comments thrown about on here from people who would normally come across as intelligent have really shocked me.
I am a H/A tenant. However, we are now in the position to rent privately, so we move out of our h/a flat in three weeks. We are moving for a number of reasons - because we hate where we live (too small, no garden etc) and because there are people more in need of this flat than us. We are by no means well off but we do earn £30k p/a between us so both hubby and I dont think it's necessary - or fair - to stay here. However, for the last three years we did need to stay here. We were earning a pittance and was struggling with debt. We would've happily rented privately back then if we could afford to do so and if we would've been accepted by a landlord/LA but a ccj and severe defaults meant nobody would touch us with a bargepole unfortunately. Our only option was the local authority. I fell pregnant then lost my job which was most definitely not on my agenda hence the reason we found ourselves in such a situation. We did not at any point claim housing benefit/council tax benefit/any benefits whatsoever though, we just struggled on which then caused us to get into bad debt - borrowing to make ends meet but then having trouble paying it back. It has taken three years to get back on the straight and narrow and now, thankfully, we are in a position to rent privately. We still have debts (as you can see from sig) but we are paying it back comfortably.
I feel like I've babbled on a bit here, but wanted to point out that council house or h/a dwellers are NOT leeches, scumbags, spongers or anything else some of you care to call us. I agree that some tenants do milk off the taxpayer and do expect the whole world and his dog to give them everything on a plate but we are not all like that. Some of us do work, we do pay taxes, rent and pay our own way and we aren't all 'popping out babies just to get more benefits and a bigger house' like so many would have you believe! I am sick of being treated as a second class citizen just because we have been living here and shockingly I have had the most horrendous abuse shouted at me in the street all because I rent a housing association flat. These people didn't know me but assumed I was a single teenage mother "stealing their money." Although I am not entirely sure where they got that info from as for starters I have never been a single teenage mum! I guess too many people think it's acceptable to make such sweeping generalisations about those who are less fortunate than themselves. Makes them feel better I suppose!

thats true you get benefits that cover the rent... even though you 'pay' your being paid to 'pay' :P. sucky system..
You know, people complain about the sorry state that this country is in. I think its a sorry state that there are such ignorant opions such as this

So just confirm for us, if in your world ALL council house occupants have their rent paid by benefits and ALL private tenents pay their own where exactly in the cosmiverse are you  :heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Did i say they did? If i did i apologise.
I never said ALL council tenants are scroungers/leechers but i lived beneath one... and a fair proporton of them on the estate were 'bad' people. If i wanted somethng 'nicked' i knew where to go say. And you regularly had people selling lawnmowers, goldfish, garden gnomes outside the street lol. Maybe its just my area... i live in west yorkshire were the area is pretty poor.0
