Hi everyone, just a quick question. DH and GF have made a lemon merangue pie, and there is too much merangue, will it be ok in the fridge until tomorrow to make some merangue nests or do I need to do it today??

Hmmm, I'd think that the meringue mix might "deflate" overnight and be no good tomorrow... I'd make them tonight while the air bubbles in the egg white are still as you left them.

is that a real and genuine offer - they came back with the european fruit mountain to try out the smoothie maker thingy I bought yesterday. Hope they eat it all as there is no room in the fridge or fruit bowl.
Actually exoh and I have spoken calmly and it seems that she reduced his gf to tears last weekend and is having a fine old time playing us all off against each other - we are going to foil her cunning plans by communicating. we have survived two girl-adolescences so far - both very different - so we're wondering what this one is going to be like. the conclusion is that as she is far cleverer than both of us put together it will be very well thought out and involve many blackboards of formulae along the lines of "where x = parental misery and y = effort involved .... etc etc"I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Smoky Don't know what to say really, I'm always rubbish at knowing what to say at times like this and if you were here I would throw my arms around you and give you such a big hug. So a 'virtual' hug is on it's way to you now and I hope I don't squeeze you too hard.
Hope you don't mind I've also said another little prayer for Eric.0 -
Hello all.
If it's okay, I'd like to share a "moment" with you. It occured this afternoon and was heightened, if that's the right word, because I spent a long time thinking about my last post on this thread. After I'd posted, I thought about editing it or even deleting it completely. I was genuinely worried that it might have sounded a touch trite which was not my intention and if anyone was/is offended by it, then please accept my apologies. It was a simple gesture of me reaching out to someone who is hurting, the way you people have reached out to me.
The moment was a fairly regular thing for me in that I heard a pair of Buzzards calling to each other as they were flying over the forest at work. As I watched them, tunes came into my head and as music has always played an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember, I go with the flow. The first tune was an album track by Abba called, appropriately, "Eagle":
They came flying from far away, now I'm under their spell
I love hearing the stories that they tell
They've seen places beyond my land and they've found new horizons
They speak strangely but I understand
And I dream I'm an eagle
And I dream I can spread my wings
Flying high, high, I'm a bird in the sky
I'm an eagle that rides on the breeze
High, high, what a feeling to fly
Over mountains and forests and seas
And to go anywhere that I please
This tune gave way to another Abba track called, again appropriately, "Move on":
"They say a restless body can hide a peaceful soul.
A voyager, and a settler, they both have a distant goal.
If I explore the heavens, or if I search inside.
Well, it really doesn't matter as long as I can tell myself
I've always tried."
Like a roller in the ocean, life is motion
Move on
Like a wind that's always blowing, life is flowing
Move on
Like the sunrise in the morning, life is dawning
Move on
How I treasure every minute
Being part of it, being in it
With the urge to move on
I've travelled every country, I've travelled in my mind
It seems we're on a journey, a trip through space and time
And somewhere lies the answer
To all the questions why
What really makes the difference
Between all dead and living things, the will to stay alive
Finally, as these fabulously majestic birds soared away out of my sight, Abba were replaced by a Capercaillie track called "You will rise again":
Cold December dawn
The party's over and the thrill is gone
Tears are at your feet
They're running down the empty street
But I know for certain
Every time you fail
You will rise again
Above it all
Fly the way you do
The way you dream when love is new
Try to understand
It couldn't last the way you planned
And I know for certain
Every time you fall
You will rise again
Above it all.
You'll wake to a different drum
In a place to call your own
Your world is shaking but a day will come
for a dream to take you home
But I know for certain
Every time you fall
You will rise again
Above it all
You will rise again
Above it all
The last tune I can remember before the moment faded was Elton John singing "Reach out for those healing hands".
And reach out for her healing hands
Reach out for her healing hands
There's a light, where the darkness ends
Touch me now and let me see again
Rock me now in your gentle healing hands
Thanks for being there and in case you think you can hear rain falling, don't worry, it's me, sobbing, again......
