Hi Lainey - wow, they look lovely together. It has just struck me, seeing the squares like that, just what we have all achieved and it's made me feel very emotional! All that love, effort and time from complete strangers, coming together. All I can say is 'wow!
Lainey - your combinations are brilliant; thank you so much.

Hi Mioliere - I've done a hat too. In post 887 you have me in your running total but subsequently I seem to have fallen off.
I'm hoping to do a hat a week and will follow your example of sending off six at a time but the first one will go in the post tomorrow.

Hi there! BELLA - I'm so sorry for you disappearing from the running total. I don't know how that happened and thanks for telling me. I'll put you back on in a mo!
HAPPYLION - thanks for joining us! For all newbies, please join our Yahoo group - here is the link http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/
DRIFTER - what a lovely lady you are! I hope you are feeling better and thanks for joining us. If you look on www.lovinghands.org.uk (and join them, they know all about us as a group!) they supply free wool and needles for charity knitters. They are very happy to do this because they are so pleased that people knit for charity. Also, on their site, you'll find loads of free-to-download patterns for hats and lots of other things, and links to many other sites and patterns. It's a great site run by a lovely lady called Lou.
Well, it's lovely to have newbies on here. I know our original target was for 50 hats but, because you are all so lovely, I know we'll exceed that in no time, so lets just do as many as we want!
Right, off to update - will see you all later.
The first figures are for the STC (Save the Children) hats and the second is for the (IS) Innocent Smoothie hats which we can do in readiness for the go ahead of Sainsbury's next campaign.

Hi again! The postie has just been and so I have to do a great big update! My lovely Mum has sent TEN preemie hats! I shall post them all off on Monday with mine. I've just looked at the postage on her parcel (which included a card, a couple of knitting patterns and a magazine article she had cut out, as well as the hats) and it was only £1.45 for 1st class, which I think is not bad.
Anyway, off for another update. My Mum is not online but I've given her her own forum name! She is LilyMay.

Kathy - please say welcome Lilymay and many congratulations on all of her preemie hats!!!!
I am in the middle of another hat and hope to finish it later - I have friends expecting their first baby next weekend so have been doing a small aside project for them (and a steep learning curve for me). My mum gave me an old pattern for booties, so I have one knitted ready to sew up and another half done. So far I have learned how to put my yarn forward and use that with kitting two stitches together to make 'holes' for ribbon and I have also learned how to increase and decrease.
I promise to post pictures when they are done.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Hi R.Mac - well done on all you are learning! It'll be lovely for you to be able to present the booties having made them yourself and making them will give you such a lot of confidence - you'll soon be tackling bigger items. Booties are really cute, aren't they?
I'll pass your 'welcome' to my Mum LilyMay - she's not online (I don't think she would want to spend time learning the internet at 77 years old - she'd rather be knitting!) so I am her 'go-between'! She taught me to knit when I was four or five years old so I have a lot to thank her for, besides bringing me up and being the best Mum in the world - well, she is to me!.
