  • yes it is not easy to cancel the Equifax gold watch credit account, i am not saying it because it is really to much difficult but if you are new user of Equifax then you will need to read more about Equifax and its policies if would prefer you to spend your little time to understand Equifax.

  • I just checked my rating and I have three items on there. My bank account and mobile phone bills which are fine. However, my student loan is in red with an '8' next to it. It was registered to my old address and I never updated it when i moved so I guess it lapsed and they filed against me. I only checked this because I applied for a barclaycard and they turned me down. Apparently even if I start paying my student loan off again the negative rating will remain on my record for 6 years. Anything I can do to remove it and get my credit file back on track?

The information can not just be 'removed' from your credit file. I would highly recommend repaying the student loan however you can, but it will state settled on your credit file when paid off instead of being in 8 months arears. So of course it will be in your favour in the future. With regards to moving address - they tend to catch up with you eventually - trust me!

    Hello,

Signed up for just one month with these guys. My present credit rating seems ok as I'm shown as being at present address for over 4 years (on electoral roll for last year, creditbuilder with mycashplus, standard bank a/c with y/bank-not a basic a/c-just been approved for an aqua card-purely for big emergencies & to build credit). My previous address which has NO links from this address DID have bad credit on it (no a/c's from previous address moved here-all but one which was never overdrawn closed (& new address not given to this one bank), post re-direction not in my name/signed out of & no new bills with any utility companies that were used at old address) but as I show up as 4yrs+ at current address no adverse is linked to this address as the applications I've made only want addresses in the last 3/4 years.

Had issues ordering £2 paper files from equifax/Experian (call credit came back fine)....they wanted p/port or driving licence/birth certificate which I don't have. Also to get the file I need to say my previous address as all addresses in last SIX yrs needed(obviously i don't as it would link-I've just said I've been working away/abroad). Files must be clean as I got approved for this Aqua card & also a rolling 30 day tesco sim only deal.

So....signed up for checkmyfile.com as they search i understand from a LENDERS perspective & don't need passports etc (how crazy....obviously I have a credit file with both Exp & Eq. as it they would have been searched for mobile, bank alc, aqua etc??!). getting password tomorrow.

Also...1 more question .Applied for barclaycard (the one for credit building) & flybe card-both declined-equifax was the ref. agency searched. Not worried really it's BAD credit or a link but guess its their scoring techniques. Any thoughts guys/gals????

Also i read that THREE full searches is the max in any 3 months-otherwise it damages your file? Any help would be fab re:any of the above points. I now have a good job & just want to start rebuilding my file.
  • Any ideas anyone?
  • Hi

    Can someone please help me.

I have an above average credit rating on Callcredit and Experian but a below average credit rating on Equifax (in fact a bad credit rating from Equifax  )

I want to get a mortgage so how can I find out which banks and building societies use Callcredit and Experian to credit check me. Obviously going to these lenders would give me a better chance of getting a mortgage.

Going to a lender that uses Equifax will surely result in me being turned down

    Thanks all
  • Hi all
i am also new to this site and could really do with some advise and a bit of a cheer up if possible. i currently have a personal loan with Santander with no problems. I have applied for additional borrowing today (£4500 on top of the £2500 remaining) and have been refused. they wouldn't elaborate as to why although the operator did ask if I had a student loan (which I don't).

I have checked my credit score on Credit Expert and it says it's 999 and also on my credit report it says I have £19098 as my amount of available credit. I have no CCJs, have never missed a payment etc etc. Ihave had no searches in the last 6 months other than experian. Can anyone shed any light please?
  • I just got my credit report from experian.

To my surprise, experian only hold two credit account on me:
    1. Orange
    2. Next Directory for a credit limit of 600 pounds.

there is no reference to my current account and a visa credit card which I have for the last six years.

apart from that there were around 13 previous search from bank, credit card comapny in the past 12 month when I apply for a new account after I moved earlier (the application for a new current accoutn with A&L was turned down).

So all in all, it is a very plain report.

Is there a way to get Experian to talk to my current bank so that my credit card record will show in the report? As I never miss a payment, just thought that will improve my report.
    thx

i was wondering why i could not get credit anywhere i checked experian and it said my rating was fair, however i just checked equifax and discovered a default in my file from O2 for a mobile phone that was cancelled in feb 2010 for the grand sum of £10 outstanding!!!!!!! which i knew nothing about owing them as they never billed me for or tried to take direct debit..............
this has now been settled but it is killing my credit rating is there anything i can do about it as i feel they are bang out of order as i have had no communication from them about it at all and had no knowledge about it which meant i never had the chance to resolve the matter prior to this situation arising!!!!!!!

Do i have any recourse can i dispute the default? can i have it removed? can i take legal action against O2 for screwing my life up?

I just want my credit rating back can anyone give me some advice please.:(

I've got a similar problem myself with Equifax/O2. Please see a previous post i made in another thread. Maybe i'll get a better response in this thread.

I recently had to take a loan out to pay for a 'Major works' bill.

Tesco was offering the best deal so i applied to them. They offered me the loan but not at their typical rate. In fact it was quite a bit higher at over 13%. Because i need the loan and they'd carried out the credit check i accepted the loan.

I then took out the free Equifax trial to find out why i didn't get the typical APR. To my suprise there was a default logged in November 2010 from O2. The strange thing was there were no entry's before November or any after. The account should have also been closed.

I emailed Equifax to clarify and i also contacted O2. Equifax took over 2 weeks to reply and in the mean time O2 had confirmed that my account should be closed and in fact i was in credit by £12.50. They then suggested i contact their credit referrals.

The reply from Equifax was simply 'the account is closed'. I then rechecked my report and the O2 account had gone along with the default. No explaination was given. In the mean time O2 have asked for a copy of the report which i now cant give them as it's been removed.

With hindsight i realise i should have checked the report before applying for the loan so please no beating me up on that :(

    Question:

Is there anything i can do about this seeing as it was an error on either Equifax or O2's part? Maybe renegotiate with Tesco's (I'm doubtful as the loan has since been signed, sealed and delivered) or claim something back from equifax/O2?

Just want to see what my options are before rolling over and putting it down to another lesson learnt.

Any helpful suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

P.S. I never missed a payment with O2 and was always in credit. The error is in the report.
  • A rather strange item cropped up on my wife's Equifax report (I order them bi-annually for both of us). It cites;

    PROPERTY VALUATION

    Deed date: 24/05/2002
    Price paid: £116,000
    Property type: Terrace
    Tenure: Freehold
    New Build: No

Source acknowledgement: Property Valuation data provided by the Land Registry.

This material was last updated 27 May 2009. Covers period 01 Apr 2000 to 31 Mar 2009.

We've never owned a house nor had cause to value one- so what's this all about? I've not seen this on previous reports.

I'm concerned as to what kind of impact this rogue item is having.
