Just wondering if settled car finance agreements help my credit rating or dont have any affect at all. I have had two both of which were settled no problems. Got no loans out, no credit cards, no debt. Wondering If a loan application would be successful or not..

Don't know if this is the right place but I have taken out a loan with M&S money and set up a DD to pay it off each month, but something went wrong when first setting it up so I paid the first installment by debit card which was late. I asked if this will be classed as a late payment and M&S said no as it was the first payment. However after phoning them to see if the DD was in place and them telling me it was the payment hasn't come out of my account on the 4th as it should have. I am going to have to phone up and pay it by card again today. My question is will this have an effect on my credit score even if they have somehow mangaged to !!!! up setting the DD twice?

  • Hi all, I wonder if someone has some advice for me.

A default has just (5/6/11) appeared on my Experian report from Honours Student Loans, an account which I finished paying earlier this year.

It says that I defaulted on 18/05/2007, over 4 years ago! When I rang they said they had no record of the account defaulting. However, when I asked them to contact Experian to remove the default they said they could not do this until I send them a copy of my credit report to prove that the default is there.

Surely this is a breach of my data protection rights?
Why can't they just contact Experian to get it removed?
Has anyone else had their credit report requested like this?

Any light anyone could shed on this would be great!

    Regards

maybe you could contact experian yourself, see what they say, and perhaps they will then contact the student loans company for you?

I have contacted Experian, but am still waiting to hear. Was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me?

I just received an alert from experian, I have used them for about 18 months now. The alert was to tell me that Nationwide have done a credit check on me for a loan that I have not accepted. They advertised that they would check credit in a different way, not listed on your credit history, and would only do a proper credit check if the loan was accepted. I simply requested a quote but did not accept, I now have another credit check on my credit history. I am not impressed ... please be careful otherwise you too will end up with credit checks you don't want or need

If you asked for a price quote (ie "If you were to accept my application how much are you likely to charge me for credit?") then the footprint on your credit report will be marked as a quotation. This won't affect credit scoring. If you asked "Will you lend to me?" then that is a credit application and will have registered a credit application footprint that can be used in scoring. Your credit report will tell you exactly what has been registered. If you think as mistake has occurred you can take it up with the lender or ask the credit reference agency to help you.

  • Hi
I have just been looking at my boyfriends credit report on Experian with him and he has an old mobile account that says:
    FCS Flag: FCS disconnected.
Does anyone know what this means?

    Thanks you
  • i'd like to make offers of a lump sum as full and final settlement to some creditors debts, to get them marked as satisfied/paid on my credit file. i have been told that if the finance company agree to a lower amount to clear the debt, then they will update my experian report as 'satisfied' which is normal however it will also state 'partial settlement' not 'full'. will this affect my ability to obtain credit if it's marked partial or as long it's satisfied then it's all good. do companies legally have to mark it as partial if an amount was agreed less than the debt owed. thanks. :j

    Hello

I just got my first credit report but I have some questions. Maybe someone here knows.

Some bits on teh credit agreements say "not updated" what does this mean?

Some also say "settled" which I take it's just to say that all was paid and all is good?

I also have 3 bank accounts. Will this affect my credit? I can close them if it's better to just have one.

One other question is: I don't really use my first name so for example, a credit card that I have with my mum (she is the account holder) doesn't appear on there. Is it because of my name or because I'm not the main account holder?

    Thanks!
