Why do you need a Land Rover? I have a friend who lives in very rural Wales. You have to go through an old slate quarry to get to her house. My Mondeo seems quite able to and she doesn't own a 4x4 either.

I dont think they should backdate the road tax. Sure discourage people driving inefficient vehicles but it is unfair to penalise those who purchased before the changers

Many people on low incomes simply cant not afford to buy smaller efficient vehicles so tend to drive vehicles that are years old

Who wants to drive a Mondeo though?

Does a Mondeo pull a trailer full of livestock/ponies etc out a muddy field?

(And yes I know its a great car etc)

I went to tax my little 1.4 Clio yesterday, I got the notice 2 weeks ago but when I got to the P.O the budget change had kicked in and it still cost me more :(

I've always thought the solution to all of this was to do away with road tax and car insurance and reflect the costs into petrol, because simply we all need petrol. That way there would be no uninsured drivers and no road tax dodgers and cars that used more fuel would pay more through the pump.

Of course, how that would work is an entirely different matter.

Is gordon brown actually a LEGAL prime minister

    He's unelected

    He's a !!!!!!

He's just plunged single workers in to near poverty with the new tax brackets

He claims families will be compensated by extra tax credit, which no doubt will be overpaid to thousands of families, i have never met a person who has been underpaid or paid spot on yet.

He cant quite answer david camerons question though 'How is overtaxing motorists going to help the enviromental issues? Can you proove this extra revenue is going to this cause?' Are we allowed to call an inquiry in to where the road tax goes to?

    Fight-back-now,

much as I agree with your sentiments and think Labour suck big,big and extra big time, I thought that any vehicles not registered in the UK(ie vehicles from the EU etc) had to be re-registered within 3 years.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Bill
