Did you start it up to windows without any install procedure?

There was a install procedure. When I pressed power button the laptop booted, said it was installing then rebooted itself twice with black backgrounds. Took a few minutes.
This is without me doing anything but pressing the power button.
When it went to the setup screen thats when I noticed the Dead pixels because the background changed to a color one instead of black.
Turned it off and reboxed and took it back.0 -

You can ROtF as much as you like. The ISO standard that you quote does ~not~ say how many dead pixels a consumer should be prepared to accept in a new product.
The ISO standard's purpose is "Ergonomic requirements for work with visual displays based on flat panels -- Part 2: Ergonomic requirements for flat panel displays", and while some manufacturers may quote it as a standard "get-out clause", it doesn't have any direct bearing on how many defects should or may be present from new.
If the OP was not told by Comet to expect defects then he should have none.0 -
Terms and conditions do not affect your statutory rights.
Complain to the local trading standards regarding comet's flouting the law and trying to confuse you with T&C and selling faulty goods.
You are not happy with the product, for whatever reason, and you want your money back as the law entitles you to do.:think:0 -

OK, I was just making sure that they never gave you one that had already been used.

Conor is right a number defective pixels are allowed within ISO standards depending on the size of the screen.0

Im talking about the dead pixels, they are not acceptable to me and I find them an inconvience and unsuitable for my use.
Thus I want a refund.
Regarding the store. I couldn't care less as I will never purchase an item from there again or Comet for that matter. If any bridges were burnt it was on their part.
I brought PC's in the past from differnet compaines which have had dead pixels and never had a problem getting exchanges before.0
