    Hello all.

First of all, I want to say a very big thank you to all you good people for your help and suuport, especially all the pm's I've had. What I'm going through isn't the end of the world and I know that there are people out there who are more deserving of your support but thank you all the same. It means a great deal to me and it is helping me through this. Thanks all :A .

It's not been too bad a day after all. I did take Redruby's advice and bought myself a "small" bar of chocolate (250 grammes :o ) After w**k I managed an hour in the forest with the dogs and we had a walk up to the iron age hillfort about 3/4 of a mile away. Amazingly, the Witch sat still for 5 minutes and it was pure bliss listening to the birdsong and picking out the different birds. I'm not sure my tea was too healthy though. A large plateful of chicken breast, a peice of cheese the size of a small African nation and enough mayonnaise that if it was frozen would sink the Titanic :p Followed by, :D , Angel Delight (left over stock from the camp shop) with chocolate crumbled in it  Healthy or not, I enjoyed it :j

And to round of the day, I've just watched the film "Local Hero" on Film 4. It brought back great memories of the 5 years that we lived up on the west coast of Scotland before we moved down here. It also brought yet another tear to my eye thinking about Jake and Toby, my two special dogs that are sadly no longer with me. Now Dorset is nice, without a doubt, but the west coast of Scotland it isn't. As I watched the film and re-lived the memories, I could feel it pulling at my soul. Anyone who's walked on those white sand beaches, including Edinburghlass, will back me up on this. That pull on my soul has not weakened after more than 3 years away. Once I get sorted, who knows?

I'll try for a good night's sleep now with the assistance of a small drop of something out of a bottle that's 14 year old. Thanks again for eveyone's support.

    Martyn.

Poor DS has been trying to rest up all day and nursey me has kept him topped up with paracetemol and ibuprophen.
We are going to continue to monitor him this evening them take him to the NHS walk in center tomorrow if hes still aching or if hes any worse this evening.

Again thankyou for all your best wishes. I really appreciate them :)

I will try and find the link for you. Pandoro gave me such good instructions the other week. I'll be back!
.....back now, see below! It's Pandoro123 who posts in the menuplan thread.

Thanks PurpleIvy and therefore Pandoro. I ditched the first batch and let DS play with it LOL, tried another batch with the wholemeal bread flour. Well it did better I must say but being wholemeal the result was a little heavy ROFL, I like thin and crisy and this was definitely more deeppan. I just couldn't get it as stretchy as I used to, mine used to be easy to flap about in your hands like Italians do. Don't suppose the whomeal helps that either. So the result was very "bready" LOL. I will give that recipe a go next time. I just don't know why I am finding this so hard all of a sudden, I remember it being dead easy but then maybe I am just having a bad day I made some pizza sauce by simmering passatta with garlic and herbs and managed to take my eye off it for a second while DS was wittering away and O burnt the bottom of the pan, thanks to OS though I knew to use biological detergent and it came off soooo easily, so I refused to attempt anything else all night as I am obviously cursed tonight. I used the recipe of the back of the yeast packet before I think but this one only has one for bread. But that was when I bought stuff from Safeway so you can tell how long ago that it is since I attempted this.
  • PS Purple Ivy, what is your recipe for Pea and Ham soup? My pea soup is just yellow split peas and a stock cube but I wanted to make "proper" pea and ham one day and bought what I thought was the right bit of the pig LOL. It tasted foul and I have no idea where I went wrong other than the pig, it got flushed down the loo. I think I bought something called a smoked hock??? Again this was years ago and I haven't dared attempt it since. I like to think I am a bit OS but clearly sometimes I am just a disaster area. I just can't believe I could get a soup wrong.
  • oh I didn't know Local Hero was on! I love that film and it was filmed quite near to where I live and I two of the boys in the ceilidh band were neighbours of my granny. Pity I missed it. Well I think I am going to head to bed, it seems like it has been a long day. Oh poo I still have the kitchen to tidy, better get going then as I need some zzzzzzs real soon

Sorry Martyn we closed the border 3 years ago ;)

Arggg I didn't know Local Hero was on either one of my favourite films and several of my favourite actors including Denis Lawson uncle of the lovely Ewan McGregor.

  • Evening all, I am shattered! I shopped and I shopped and I …….. yeah you guessed it Shopped.

CC Star. The nearest Ikea to me is in Croydon, straight up the A23 from the coast. I love IKEA but as it is usually over an hour to get there and so it is a rare treat.

Given the choice between a hot Indian and Colin Firth I’m afraid there is no contest:D I certainly wouldn't be talking about plastic bag underwear:rotfl:

Just about to go to bed. Glad to see most of you had a reasonable day. Welcome to the newbies. Hugs and best wishes to all the poorlies/fedups and upsets.

    Hi guys,

They tried waking OH up yesterday but he ended up desaturating badly and had to be bagged for a long while before he was proned and as is becoming normal he has improved overnight. He was turned back this morning and had desaturated slightly a couple of times but in the time I spent there this afternoon he has been nice and stable and his O2 levels and sats have remained fairly good.

The general surgeons have been in to look at him today as his intestines are not working (normal for very ill people I'm told) and he is backed up from end to end. They have done an x-ray and had a good feel around and do not feel that there is a blockage and have prescribed some meds to hopefully try and move it all along.

I have spoken to the welfare rights people and apparently we fall in to a small niche of people who do not qualify for much help. The upshot being that I will have to go back to work at some point to support the mortgage and I have also been given the No of social services - family and childrens dept to see if they have any practical suggestions regarding childcare. I have been unable to find anyone to take them on just over the times when school is not open.

Of course it all depends on my employer, but she has been brilliant so far and I do know that they are looking for domestic help and this sounds a lot more doable for me as the hours are more flexible. On a better note OH's IB will not be stopped as apparently the rules have changed and this will continue to be paid.

I am having a couple of drinks tonight and have tidied up and hoovered after I got back from the hospital. The plan tomorrow is to get us all down to Asda as the two oldest need new coats and I could not find any locally last weekend.

I hope you all have a good weekend and hugs to anyone that needs one.
Thank you all also for your prayers and good wishes.

    Smoky.

Hi Smoky, thanks for taking the time to update us on your OH's progress.

Whilst it's not good news about any help you can receive, at least if his IB will continue, that's something. I do hope your employer is able to help with regards to work that is more flexible.
It sounds as though you are managing to get into a routine, I just hope you can sort out something for the children during the Easter break.

I wish you and the children a good weekend and as ever, Eric will be in my prayers.

Love and hugs to you all
