Seems odd that they are in a rush to do this when its traditional style lightbulbs being phased out first (see item below).
However if the energy efficient ones are 1p its got to be good all round so fingers crossed that it is them.
As for the reply by alanwarwic, was that really necessary? It reads as though the OP works for Tesco so the comments were a bit nasty.
1. The Government has proposed, as an illustrative schedule for the phase
out of inefficient lamps, that retailers might want to follow:- By January 2008, cease replacing stock of all inefficient (General Lighting Service, GLS) A-shaped incandescent lamps of energy rating higher than 100W (predominantly 150W lamps).
- By January 2009, cease selling all inefficient GLS A-shaped lamps of energy rating higher than 60W (predominantly 150W lamps, 100W lamps, plus some 75W lamps)
- By January 2010, cease selling all GLS A-shaped lamps of efficacy of energy rating higher than 40W (predominantly 60W lamps)
- By 31 December 2011, cease selling all remaining inefficient GLS A-shaped lamps and 60W "candle"
this replacement may be ok for the magority of light bulbs
hek we are doing our best and have the energy saving ones BUT we have some small "golf Ball " size bulbs which are NOT made in energy saving type. Do we have to change our light fittings as well??!!:mad:0 -
Beware - these do not work for dimmer switches, timer switches, enclosed lights etc.

You can buy energy saver bulbs that are dimmable, see here:

For several days I have not been able to find any of these 1p bulbs in any of my local Tescos [Harrow Area]. It's probably yet another Tesco 'con' just to get the public into their stores. Remember their motto - "Every little bit helps". The real meaning of this is: "Every little bit we can jack up the prices without the public knowing, helps increase our profits"!0

Might be energy saving, but not money saving , nearly £5 a shot, plus delivery of £2.90 if order is under £35.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I don't like the light they cast, very cold and clinicalpoppy100

If you read back through this thread you will find that 99% of people have managed to buy plenty of these bulbs. Added to the fact this offer has been spoken about in all the national newspapers, MSE e-mail, various websites etc, and the fact that the offer has been on for over a week then yes I am sure people might now struggle to get them.
Speaking for my store we have had 2 pallets delivered aswell as 900+ cases mixed in with standard deliveries over the past few days - Average sell out time - 5 minutes!:rotfl:Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -
