Think I am going to stop offering paypal as an option though as that just eats even more into the money.
I know it has been said before but I think it is worth saying again in case it was missed. At some point very soon all auctions MUST offer paypal as a payment option. Therefore if you want to sell without paypal you will have to do it quickly to avoid the new rules.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've had nothing but trouble from PayPal, buyers claiming they haven't received items and PP always side with them because I don't have a tracking number!
I tried offering only confirmed delivery etc, but buyers complained it cost too much and wanted a cheaper quote... Seller's can't win!
I only use PayPal as it's easier than waiting for a cheque or Postal Order
Apologies, needed a bit of a rant - Now waiting for £150 from 3 sellers :mad:0 -

Sorry for butting in on your thread (I have been reading from afar and trying join in the challenge but spend too much time reading the messages rather than listing!)..
eBay are bringing it in that you have to offer Paypal on all your listings - there are lots of concerns about this on the eBay board especially on collect only items where dodgy buyers can pay by Paypal, collect the item and then claim they 'have not received it'. The exception I believe is where you are selling a car.
Floxxie
Thanks Floxxie for that piece of information. I wasn't aware that it was going to be mandatory to offer paypal. It is unfortunate that ebay are making it that we have no choice on this matter. I remember when I first started ebaying in 2004 and had no concept of what paypal was and got by just fine without it and now it seems to be de rigeur
I asked a winner to pay by BACS or cheque if at all possible because of paypal fees that would have come up to £4.00 but he chose to add an extra £4 to the total price even though I didn't ask him to. The sad fact is that in a few months we will all have to be adding this stealth fee into our auctions to cover ourselves.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -

No apologies necessary Rosa, I feel like that is all I had been doing in here over the weekend but ebay drives you to it sometimes
I have got something positive to share though - popped over to poundland and picked up a 5 pack of large padded envelopes for £1 which means I have managed to save a bit on packaging and as we all know every little helps :T Feeling quite pleased with myself and just popping to the post office now with 4 pairs of shoes and 1 corset!DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -

do cd's sell well on ebay?
Try looking for prices on Amazon for Cds as well, it's easier than listing on ebay but the fees are higher. There is a long thread on the ebay board about Amazon selling.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
