I have got something positive to share though - popped over to poundland and picked up a 5 pack of large padded envelopes for £1 which means I have managed to save a bit on packaging and as we all know every little helps :T Feeling quite pleased with myself and just popping to the post office now with 4 pairs of shoes and 1 corset!
Ooh, a corset that I know I didn't buy!! I'm on a shopping diet at the moment, and so far have "gained" 50 pounds!
Will pop into Poundland... if we have one that is! Ended up buying some padded envelopes in Tesco, I object to buying them, like elastic bands - I've always had them but never quite known where they came from.
On the subject of PayPal fees, I never charge extra for someone to pay me via PP - I never buy from people who charge extra either. Best way, if you do want to charge 50p extra or something, is to include it into the postage charge. The worst one is someone charging to pack the item for you! Sorry, but how does folding a t-shirt and sealing a bag cost £1?
Woodrocks: Are you sure no apology is needed? I will keep on ranting til someone shuts me up with an aero bar! :rotfl:

woodyrocks - if you don't mind me asking are t hey new or used shoes - I have quiet a shoe collection (part of the reason for my debt) and seems fitting to sell them to help pay off the debt
Believe it or not but I have such a hard time trying to sell new shoes on ebay. Weird huh?! If Ilist a brand new pair of George Mang and Vintage Pair of Bally I guarantee you every time that the Bally will sell each and every time. I sold 7 pairs on Sunday all used, infact the ONLY item that didn't sell out of 13 was a pair of brand new shoes lolDEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -
Funny that - I've just been sorting out my wardrobe - Mainly vintage - The new stuff with tags struggles to get a bid at 20p, but the vintage I can start at around a tenner and people fight to own it.
Who's going to ask the question?! What size are the shoes you're selling??0 -
A note re trying to recoup paypal fees/ebay fees... If you do this via the postage fee's, and make it known, then ebay can pull your items because its not allowed (unsurprisingly!) and then obviously there is the star ratings, if you are massively over charging on postage (and lets face it most people only look at the value on the sticker and don't think about packaging etc) then your ratings are going to go down and your items will slip down the search listings in certain views.

It's against the 'rules' to charge for accepting PP: report them if you come across someone doing it. And as for adding extra costs into your post, eBay have clamped down on this as well.
For me eBay is about getting rid of things to free up space now, rather than a few years ago where money could be made on the item and the postage. It's just a shame that I still can't get my ar*e in gear and put the stuff on!

I'm not surprised it's against the rules - But it's surely better than saying "Postage £2, handling charge £1, PayPal fee £1"
I don't agree with charging extra at all, I apologise if it sounded that way.
As for postage costs - I weigh every item and check the price on Royal Mail, no extra! BUT, why on earth have I only got 4 stars for postage? I charge spot on, never a penny more!!! I wish people would read the stickers and say "Ooh, she charged me the exact postage and didn't scam any money outta me - I'll give her 5 stars for that"
I'm still ranting - 8 hours straight!! Is it too early to say "bah, humbug"??0 -

Ebay only clamp down on it because they don't make money on the postage, the final valuation fee is based on the actual auction price, and not the price inclusive of postage. Its not that Ebay frown upon recouping fees through auctions, its just that they would rather you do it through the auction price so they get their cut...

Re: postage - I sold something a couple of weeks ago and when I came to post it, it was more expensive than I'd thought (due to the box being thick and heavy). Anyway the buyer must have noticed this and she sent me a cheque for the difference. That's never happened before in 6 years of selling!!Sealed Pot challenge #59SPC5 total £473.600
