it's brilliant ! there's nothing like it. i've been ebaying for over a year now and without it I would have sunk a long time ago. I now have just 8 more months just to get back to manageable living. so that's my goal to keep going for that long. I will then of course continue to ebay and use any money I make then to actually pay off balances. I figured one at a time starting with the smallest. my husband has a savings plan we started 3 years ago with his job and yes, it's only a few quid but we get to draw it out the end of this year and it'll give us another £1000 that we would never have saved.
I have managed to shave off £58 per month also in shopping around for insurances etc too. and also at another person's suggestion i've also started keeping a spending diary too. I shop only at certain times and buy as much reduced as I can. but never rubbish, only things that can be used for proper meals.

getting back to ebay, never ever think something won't sell. I listed a coat hoping it would make a fiver as it had only been worn a handful of times and it finished at a whopping £28 !!!! the trick is to be as honest as possible, always try to keep to one free photo, and please please do pay the extra 15p for gallery photo's as it really does entice buyers. I use digital kitchen scales for weighing items which I bought really cheaply from tesco. don't ever be tempted to hike up postage as it only gives you a bad reputation. I only ever charge actual cost and as all my packaging is recycled I get to pass that saving on too. ask friends etc to keep padded envelopes, bubble wrap, small boxes, polystyrene pellets. no matter how small it's all useable. and you'll save more money which can all be used to pay off those debts.

Fab idea..... I'm going to aim for 2000 items, which will clear half my debt. Trouble is I only have internet access at work, so will have to be a bit cheeky!! :p

I'm going to start by listing 3 items now and will clear some stuff out over the w/end and get listing.

I am most proud to report that I have a shop now, with one item in it (picture soon)
hooray! The first step to moneysaving success and it only cost me 15 pence.

£6 per month for a basic shop also gives you free sales tracking thingies. I will let you all know if it is worth it-

Watch this space for a re vamp of my website and some fabulous "what to do with your spare beads" instructions- maybe even then some of you can come sell with me on ebay

If something takes you 15 minutes to photograph, write a description for and upload (or am I horrendously slow??) and then you pay your fees (25p is my average fee - item for 99p staring bid plus a gallery photo); how much money do you actually make if you sell an item for 99p? Do you feel it is worth it?

Do you value your time or do you feel that 50p is more than you had yesterday and feel grateful for what you have made?

Bigpaws I think you are right- a very good point- my advice is that the trick is not to pay out for all the extras, except for Gallery which really helps an item sell. Take all your pictures at once and set your camera resolution to low so that you can upload the pics directly instead of having to edit them first. Sell low priced items as job lots and never start an item at less than 99p. Put them up there ten at a time- in a week if you do ten a day with similar descriptions (ie using a template you have saved, or copy n paste from a word document you keep full of blurb) you can have 60 up in a week (assuming a day off). 60 times £5 is £300. I reckon its worth it :)
Collecting up charity shop things from friends who don't have the patience to sell them also works well!
And finally- don't relist more than once. If it won't sell, you are wasting your money and time.Give it to Charideeee or keep it

I would like to join the mad ebay challenge. i have approximately £5000 of debt would like to make some headway on clearing off these debts. I sold some stuff on ebay after christmas and made about £90 but that soon disappeared!
