  • Hi there, good idea setting a target for ebay. I sold about £350 worth of stuff since the end of January (most of which I had lying in our shed). I should have kept going but I kinda got off the track. Right the aim £500 in 30 days from our attic.....its packed with stuff.......say 250 items at £2 each???
    Good luck everyone

    Hey,

Just wanted to say this is a fab idea!!!!

Im not going to join in (ive pretty much maxed out my ebay sales) but just thought that this is a brilliant idea!
  • Just want to wish everyone good luck.

I did this a few years ago, made a bit from pieces laying around, then decided to run it as a business for a bit. Made sure I paid my fees, taxes, NI.

I started with a float of £258, and after one full year, I had turned over £27k with a net profit of £12545. I was rather lucky to find items that weren't being sold on ebay and covered that market. My first find was tooth whitening that was being sold by QVC for £15.80 and I was selling on ebay for £36.

So the very best to all, remember a golden rule, research first for sold prices to give you an indication of the going rate, otherwise you may just be listing a white elephant and wasting money on fees for non selling items.

Will watch this thread with interest.

Can I join too, please? I am using Ebay to try and save up for a very special holiday at Christmas, something I won't be able to afford out of 'normal money' if you see what I mean!

So... I need around £2500 I reckon... if it goes well I might up that target! I've already got just over £400.

Wow, writing it down makes me see how much further I've got to go. Hopefully this challengs will motivate me! :D

  • Hi Oasis. How did you find out what things there were a gap for? I read a little while ago you could buy clothes in the sale that are in fashion or sought after, then when they are pretty much not being sold anymore, you could sell them on Ebay? As you have alot of experience, do you think this could work? I also thought that I could sell alot of my summer type clothes now, before all the summer stuff comes into the shops, though I know they tend to sell stuff year round now?

    Hi everyone

Sat here at work as we speak putting things on Turbo lister for later tonight. It's good that I use my time wisely ;) .

I've got 15 items that will go on tonight and will try and do some more tomorrow.

  • Emily, have you ever taken loads of items to the post office at once that you have sold? Is it embarrassing? I'm putting on around 15-20 items at the weekend and if most (or hopefully all) sell, I will probably be taking them to the post office all at once.

OMG, I have been to the post office with BAGS full of parcels before now (and I mean 20-30 parcels!) and they are just used to people going in there with that many. I often see others in there with piles of parcels too. They look at me knowingly and you know they are thinking Ebay!!

If you feel embarrassed, then try and split them into 2 or 3 lots over a few days. It's not that bad though, honest. :D

  • I often go to post office with large boxes so can't carry them all at once & have to make 2 or 3 trips to car! I think the p.o staff just think i'm bonkers!
Who says I have to be normal? :p
