I live in a hardwater area. We don't use the bath as a bath, rather as a huge shower tray! I use a squeegee blade (like window cleaners use) to get rid of excess water on the glass shower screen AND in the bath. I then use a white vinegar solution and buff up the bath and screen. They're both shining now at last.

I follow Flylady's tip of Swishing and Wiping the bathroom every morning. Seems to work. Get a bit lazy on Sundays though!

Hi guys, My sister has just moved house and the bath tub is pretty grimy.Unfortunately, she can't afford to replace it yet. Does anyone know the best way to get it as clean as possible. She's scrubbed it with all sorts but it still looks dirty. Any help is gratefully accepted. Thanks.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I normally swear by stardrops but I noticed today that the bath seems to have lost its shine lately so I used up some cillit bang degreasing spray that I had ... perfect job!

Every so often I fill bath with hot water and add bio soap powder with a few dashes of bleach and leave overnight to soak. It is amazing how clean it comes up - all scum etc seems to soak off.

    Thanks for that guys.
  • I have just gone to give the bathroom a good clean and noticed that there is a brown patch around one end of the bath. Ive tried cleaning with bleach - bathroom spray - washing up liquid.. running out of things to try. I have heard that putting washing powder in some hot water in the bath for s few minutes works but has anyone got any better ideas ? I knackered now and ive still got the kitchen and living room to clean

Hiya, how long did you let the bleach stay on for? I had the same problem and I used bleach, I just went away and left it and later on, it was all clear

    Hi bingbong,

    This older thread should help:

What to use on the bath

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

  • I know this has been asked before but I've tried all the suggestions on here and none of them have worked. My bath has scum marks around it (inherited I might add!) and nothing seems to shift it. I've tried stardrops, lemon juice, vinegar, soda crystals and bleach but they just won't budge:mad: . Has anyone got any other ideas?

(oh and all the usual products like CIF, Mr Muscle bathroom cleaner etc)
    Nice to save.
