I do not see what the problem is with people in the wrong queue is. When I shop at Tesco (Once every three months when they send me a voucher and extra points because I seem to have not done so for a while), I love to get behind the numpties trolley. You know the one that is stacked to the gunnels with crisps, ready meals and other muppet food stuffs, and the usual token onion. If I time it right, I just have to slip in a couple of extra dim wit items it a trolley as I go around the store. An extra ready meal here ups their bill. It is even better if I get behind them at the checkout as well (Timing has to be important here, me with my cat food and lemonade, them with a trolley full of muppet food.
Strange how they never seem to put back the extra ready meals that take there bill up by another tenner. Me, the cat gets his three months suppy of Go Cat, me a nice glass of lemonade.0 -
One time we had a BOGOF on packs of nappies and a bloke was trying to get through the 'ten or less' till with a trolley packed full of them plus nine other items!
what happened to common sense, in this case you would have just scanned one pack of nappies for the bar code and x by the number of packs he had in his trolly, hardly going to hold up the q is it :mad:0 -

Have you been adding something to that lemonade Fred?0 -
I was in ASDA yesterday and went to the 10 items queue (with 10 items I would add:D ). The check out woman glared at me, counted very single item on the conveyor belt before accepting that I was allowed to use that queue
I hate being held up by people with too many items, but to have them counted out to me just in case I'd gone over seemed a bit much! She did it to everyone that came to her till, including a guy with 3 items
lol, maybe she was still learning to count to 10 and it helped her each time she had a new customer to see how many she could count?:D:DWeight Loss - 102lb0 -
At the risk of someone shouting at me and telling me I am a lazy tyke..... I hate it when I pop into Tesco at 7.10 am, on my way to work (usually to stock up with biscuits for the staffroom) and I am forced to use the self scan system, while two members of staff stand there having a chat. Why can't they open a till? If I wanted to be a check out 'colleague' I would have gone to the Tesco school of lurning
I might add I have resolved this issue, I don't go in now, I sit in the car and send in my DH - tee heeDEBT FREE since 2011

Have to say I actually prefer the self scan tills, just am pity my local tesco doesnt have any, my local asda does and they are great. If the local tesco did away with its basket tills - there are about 4 of them it could have some self scan ones instead, much easier:DWeight Loss - 102lb0

Actually it would. The fast checkouts were right next to the supervisor's station and we had to scan each item. Our scanning times were put up on the notice board. Slow scanners were 'encouraged' to speed up and if you were too fast you had a stern lecture. If you x by the barcode mistakes are more easily made and double scanning causes more probs for customer services. Our supervisors made us make evryone take every item out of their trolleys/baskets so they could be individually scanned!I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -

Oh the memories of the scan rates being put on the noticeboard & being boll*cked for having a slow scan rate. I'd forgotten that :rotfl:
I could never get them to understand that you can't compare the average scan rate of someone who works on a Saturday during the day with someone who worked late in the evening on a Monday/Tuesday.0 -

Our lot had problems understanding that too! I used to work evenings and weekends, so my rates went up and down all the time. My average was well - average - but I was still spoken to. Those were the days!I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -

They have scan rates??? Ohhh, so I guess check-out workers don't like crinkly packaging where the barcode is all crumpled, or reduced items that they have to type in manually?!!
That's such a stupid thing to compare, as like you said, they're comparing data that's not a "fair" test!!
No wonder check-out staff get p*ssed off when little old ladies stand there counting out each and every penny... they're itching to get on with more scanning!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
