We only had a sidecar.
But when we were rich it had a motorbike attached to it
And as C-Q (?) said about candlewick bedspreads ... chenille table cloths were pretty extravagant too, especially considering our dog sleeps on them now

Oh and I remember being allowed a drink of advocaat yukky egg drink topped with lemonade but oh so posh. Mum also made me wear sensible school shoes tuff go girls I think they were called. When I was older and got knee length boots with a heel ! not only did I feel posh I felt dead glamorous.0

When I was about 6, I saw the Wizard of Oz at someone else's house. I had NO idea it turned into colour when she got to Oz as I'd only ever seen it on our black and white telly. I was transfixed. It's still my favourite film. (Hence the gingham!)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Sounds similar to a memory released with reading this post! My Dad 'got' a van fom a 'mate', but as it had only the front seats Dad put the back seat from the last car in the back and away we went.
Another so posh to me was visiting people with colour co-ordinated curtains in lounge and bedrooms, that was swish as my Grandma used to say.Panda xx

I was born during the war, for me anyone who could afford oranges and bananas, had carpet on the floor, hot running water, clothes brought from a shop, cardigans that were not hand knitted, wore socks instead of lisle stockings for school, wore a bra rather than a liberty bodice, had bought vests, not hand knitted ones, had more than two sets of clothes, had shoes for best, went on holiday, had a telephone, had a TV, bought food from M & S, had a car and so many other things were sooooooooooooo posh.........really the list is endless........ I was a child living with mother and grandmother, father killed in the war, money was very tight, mother worked to support my grandmother and me.
Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:

Hi tootles.
As a someone that's a bit younger, I always thought liberty bodices were for posh people?
Unless we were poorer than I thought?0 -
Hi tootles! As someone who has trouble getting the clothes dry after I've washed them (when it's too damp outside and too cold inside,) How DID people do it with only 2 sets of clothes?
