  • It's so good to see everyone's updates.
Early payday for me (January is going to be a long month) but we have the 5% deposit saved (well very nearly so).
Now we can start looking at houses in January, whilst carrying on saving for fees and other bits and bobs.
This is so exciting, roll on 2013! Merry Christmas to you all.

Try not to touch your December salary until the end of the month, always works for me :)

Just a quick update from me. Extra £50 into the kitty from Christmas money from family
    Merry Christmas to everyone
  • Well nearly end of the year and I've met my £5,000 target. By this time next year I hope to have the extra £10,000 I need for the house.

Gonna be a money saving year in 2013 but will be worth it in the end
  • Hello!

Is it too late to join this thread or can a newbie deposit saver join in? :-)
  • CrazyAngel I'm a newbie deposit saver too!

Just wanted to say hi. Have been checking out this thread for a while resolving to join in come the New Year.

Figures and whatnot tbc, but I am hoping to save a 10% deposit which equates to £12000. This would go towards a three-bed semi-detached where we are currently, which we would hope to then extend - there aren't many four-bed houses in the area we want to live and the ones that there are, are WAY out of our budget.

It's going to be a slow process, but I have worked out that we could manage that in three years. This does not include anything on top such as fees, which I confess I have no clue about :o So will need to find out about those.

    Hey Echo and Crazy Angel

Welcome to the thread. Been a bit quiet here but I am putting that down to Christmas.

I am planning to have pretty much no life in 2013 to get my £10,000..hard slog but will be worth it :)

Hi all well i managed £7K in 2012, will be adding a bit to it so i have a nice round figure starting the new year.

I'm aiming for £20k next year plus £2400 owed by a friend £8650 owed to hubby from a job he's doing (some will go to the tax man ofcourse) and £4000 we lent the inlaws (so acually i saved £11k this year but don't have it)

Here hoping to have £40k or a plot of land by this time next year :) happy new year everyone.

  • Signature updated with December savings, bringing savings to 62% of target.

2013 is definitely going to be an extremely frugal year for me too as I intend to reach my target by the end of November 2013. If all goes according to plan, I'll start house hunting in August for the perfect doer-upper.

    Crazy Angel, Echo
Welcome to the thread... I've joined the thread fairly recently though had also been following it for a while.

  • We've got our target, had an offer accepted and now my sleepless nights have well and truly begun. I'm convinced something is going to go wrong so I'm trying not to get too excited.....but the longer it goes on the more we're saving so that's what I have to keep reminding myself.

Happy 2013 - hope all our dreams come true
2013 - Finally got the house we' ve worked so hard to get......now it's a life of diy and no money....couldn't be happier 😊
2020 - mortgage free target set 8 years and counting 🎯
Even the longest walks start with one small step....get your boots on.
