Your right Dan. Might be an idea. btw do you mean what it 1st came on the market for and then if they reduced it?

Not sure rightmove show the actual sold price?

I save a couple in right move, so that I can remember which house it actually is - and then when it's been sold I check zoopla. Although I think that right move has started to show recently sold properties too now (could be wrong on this though)

A quick update post. Have managed to save, on average, £418 a month since April (humble savings, I know, but I'm going it alone on a low salary, so it'll have to do) , but coming back on here makes me want to try harder!!! Someone mentioned above how difficult it can be, especially when going out with a partner who has a different relationship with money, i.e. they're more carefree.

It's good to read similar minded people.

In the new year, I may try to get my saving up to £500, and then £600 average per month.

It's a good aim. I nearly have a 20% deposit saved now, for a £120,000 property, which is all I'll be offered, being on a current salary of £20,000. So, maybe I'll start looking next year, or continue renting, as I am very lucky to be living in an ultra cheap room (£290/month + £55/month all bills)
    80% saved for a £20,000 deposit!
    Current Average Save: £418/month

    Update: £16,242 / £20,000 - 80% (by April 2012)
    Next Goal: £16,242 / £25,000 - 65% (by December 2013)

That's really good! I am aiming for £400 a month and don't always manage it and I share my flat, so that's really good going IMO :)

  • We've seen our advisor today who said we'll have no problem borrowing what we need.....could have kissed him, but I'll hold those off until everything is in place. :kisses:

The other half has said I can officially start looking seriously now and not just showing him every property in the area and telling him what colour scheme they've got as we drive past.

your current total is going to be my year end total and your next saving goal (date and amount) is similar to my own.

I was wondering whether your overall goal would be more and would you be willing to save for longer?
I ask because a £120k property doesn't buy a lot if you're living in the south.
I'm in the same predicament as you, but I've set a goal of £50,000. Whether it's achievable or not is another matter, but it's the only amount that will get me a mortgage for the type of property I want rather than the one I'd be forced to settle for.
