Its a really good idea - my current totals are in my sig and thats only since December. The virtual savings pot I've found most interesting - you hardly notice a few quid coming off every week but its amazing how quickly its stacked up - you of course can add extra amounts to it if you want like I do so it stacks up quicker - I lent my brother some money and he's paying me back £50 a month so once his direct debit comes into my account I pay it into virtual account - I also round down my accounts on each pay day too.......every little helps!

HI Jackies, ive also started doing this

As im saving as much as i can standing order wise anyway, each week im going to round down to the nearest 10. And on payday to.

Could amount upto £50 a suppose. Im also using it as my sealed pot challenge, when i have spare coins at home, or even a £5 er or £10 er i transfer it across online and keep the money for say fuel or goodies. Money soon racks up.

Good the next 2 weeks off work so wont really have to spend much, but im going halfers with the parents on a new suit for work, oooo

TILL NEXT TIME, AUTOBOX GOODBYE (yes ive watched transformers tonight and yes im a big kid)

Another £200 into the savings account.

Compared to some others on this thread, it is going to take me a very long to save up for a deposit to allow me to obtain a mortgage that i feel comfortable with. Glad that house prices are gradually coming down to redress the balance. :)

I does make it much easier when you can see prices coming down too, just wish they would speed up a bit ! :) still at least you know you don't have to rush into it and can save up a decent amount.

Can't wait till the 24th of this month. I get my interet paid on my new Santander 3% account :)

    Hi All,

Been saving for our wedding/honeymoon for the last 12 months and paid the whole 18k bill in cash. 12 months of 1,500 a month. Now starting again to save for the house. Here is rough overview.

I am 27 and wife is 29, we leave in north west London. Take home pay is 1,950 and 1,800. We did have a side line Internet business that was bringing in 5k profit a year but we have closed it down due to the sales figures dropping alarming. I but am however looking to start something else up for the Christmas trade.

We have little debt, only a 1,500 cc debt for medical expenses when on our honeymoon. Hopefully the insurance company will send a cheque out soon clearing that. If not then 1,500 from my wages will.

My wife has a 0% credit card with 1,000 left on it which she is paying £100 off a month. Our monthly expenses excluding food are 1,200. That's rent, council tax, gas, water, electric, land line, 2 x mobile phones, TV licence, cable tv, Internet and travel to and from work.

I then have 5 payments of £165 to clear the cost of my season ticket. My only luxary which untill this year was always paid in cash form the businesses profits.

We are going to aim to up our savings to around £1,725 per month by trying harder and selling some of the stuff we have in our flat. Hopefully this time next year we will have 20k in the bank. :D

Well done for paying the holiday off in one go. And saving all that in 1 year is excellent. It would appear that you know how to money save already as you have done a great job. Keep at it.

The side business, share any details, selling products?
