sorry - i probably phrased that wrong!
i meant by "don't worry about telling your boyfriend" that he will understand and it's the right thing to do.
NOT, "don't worry about telling him" = don't bother.0 -

We were debating either travelling or settling down towards the end of the year and have decided on the latter. We currently have 60k in our savings between us and it all matures in November, Whig by then our aim is to have 70k.
We were thinking of putting down 55k as a deposit and Abingdon the rest for legal fees etc, but as were ftb were not expecting to pay stamp duty so shouldn't be too much for this. Then using some for furnishing and the rest into savings again.
Since being on here though there seems to be a big debate over whether to buy now or wait and see how the Market goes. In all honesty though we still live at home and want our own space so are thinking we will begin looking towards October. Just using the time now to do as much research as possible really. Sound like a good plan?
Well I am no expert but if it were me in this position I'd start looking and take my time seeing what's about and buy when something great turns up, rather than give myself specific time frames. The market could go up too (IMHO) so waiting isn't garanteed to be the best option. Doing research has to help though!Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
I'm going to start saving for a holiday with Just You the Amercia's Golden West tour visiting San Francisco, LA and Las Vegas.
I was going to save up to modernize my house room by room, but then I thought as long as I have a roof over my head and it's ok at the moment, it can wait and I always loved to visit Amercia and being 28 29 in 2months i ain't getting any younger.
The problem is at the moment I'm saving for Cuba next year for my sister's wedding, but sooner after I will start some serious saving.
I have £10K in my ISA account which means I could go now rather than later but I would rather not touch that £10K and use it for an emergency house repairs.
So this weekend, I will start working out a savings plan and any money leftover to go in a separate account, it's not much but every little helps.0 -
Well, over the weekend, I listed over 60 items on eBay all at 99p and I'm happy to say almost half have bids on them already
so my Paypal account will soon have £100 or so in it to transfer into the savings account!!
I'd much rather sell all my bits & bobs which pre MSE would have gone in the bin or to the tip, for 99p each and make a few quid.0 -

What kind of things are you selling? I seem to have loads of junk in my flat, but it seems like a lot of hassle to list it all when it might not even sell. I know they say people can sell anything in ebay, but I'm curious about the kind of thing people on here are actually selling.0 -
Yeah I thought that too but have sold clothes I got from 2nd hand shops (but are in v.good condition) so they are now 3rd hand
Not everything sells but you can list from 1p if necessary and the things I've failed to sell were heavy things like candles where the P&P just isn't worth it.Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
Roll on the summer!! Will be getting payrise, change of hours at work, more responsability(and respect
)...should also have £2-3k in the pot by then so will actually see my savings grow as opposed to sitting at £550
! Just got to have a bit of patience and keep working hard!
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Svenena, I sell all sorts, right now I have a load of clothes on there - tops and trousers which no longer fit but have been lay in a vaccum bag under the bed for ages, waiting for me to slim into them  Never going to happen :rotfl:I generally will only sell stuff I'd be willing to buy myself. So clothes which are clean (you'd be suprised at what some will sell) and in good condition. If they have a flaw at all, I'll say in the discription.
And also this time, I've put on bits and bobs of toiletries, you know, stuff which I got in sets at Christmas but which I don't really like.
I even have old make-up on there! It's good stuff but I had a lot in my makeup bag which I've not used for a long time, some stuff I've never used or even the free stuff that you get when you buy 2 products or whatever the offer maybe.
It's amazing what people will buy. Last year when we moved house, I was just going to chuck my old dyson away as OH had a newer one, but I listed it on eBay and got £35 for it  I was just going to bin it!!
I know it's a faff taking pics of it all and listing it all but I tend to have a day a month or so when I dedicate a few hours to listing. It's worth it to see my paypal balance go up0 -
Well half my listings ended today and I've netted £102
I'm really pleased!! And I've sold 17 of 31 items. Everything which didn't sell is being relisted.
Straight into the savings account it goes0 -
