Right after sorting out a couple of setbacks iv had recently iv got my £500 to start with and im going for my deposit! Im 20 this summer...looking to buy in June 2013 when im turning 22. So iv got £500 and looking to save at least £20,000(only need half cost of everything as buying with partner) so i have 2.5% of my target total, my first short term goal to help me get there is to have 10%(£2,000) by the end of May. Obviously this is a minimum and il be looking to get more than this.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Just added another £300 to my saving but am now out of work, so until I get a new job may not be able to put much away, luckily a friend owes me money and has a standing order going straight into my savings to pay it back.0

I unexpectedly received a cheque at the weekend, the first part of some inheritance money which I wasn't expecting to receive for several months (pending house sale). This isn't going towards my savings total, but rather on top of it, as it wasn't something I knew about when I set my target, and I want to save the majority for myself. But I will count the interest towards my target, so that will be a bit of a boost. I think with that and the money I'm saving myself, I will earn a good £500 in interest over the next year, which is nice! I earnt £3.95 interest on my ISA last month, the most I've ever had (it's only been a few pence in the past), and I was amazed by that, so I'm looking forward to seeing £30+ a month being added.
I've done some casual work over the past couple of weeks which should be bringing in around £100, and I'm going for a clinical trials screening medical later in the week, so if I get through that, I may have another lucrative source of income. I've also finally almost reached the £40 payout mark on OnePoll, so should have that to cash in for next month. Also a teeny tiny payrise coming this month (0.04% for "inflation", and also a week or two's worth of my payrise for having been in the job for a year). Looking forward to updating next month!
Well done all on your savings, and especially to those who are just starting out with small amounts - it'll all add up in the end.0
