I agree it's so annoying that savers get shafted! I just wish interest rates would rise!

Saving is definately addictive, but when I do get a place of my own, most of the money I have saved will disappear.

I wish interest rates would rise too.

    Just had a pleasant surprise.

Although it doesn't make any real difference to the end result, the exchange rate has dropped from 6.5 to 5.35 for us, so that's a 17.7% increase in savings!!! Now to pray the rate stays for the next few years...

Beginning to wish we hadn't locked the bulk away in a high interest rate here, should have exchanged it and saved it in the UK.
  • Just an update. Our situation has changed a lot since my last post on here so it looks like the house buying isn't going to be in May! Looks like it is going to be March 2013!!!!!
Which means that the deposit target has been set at £35,000.
    Currently have £9,000 saved.

OH and I hope to have around £75,000 between us by the end of 2011. :) It doesn't seem like real money sometimes :o, and we will never get to see it if it goes on a deposit iykwim. Sometimes the temptation to splurge is overwhelming!!!!

I know, it is hard going sometimes and you do have to make sacrifices here and there... but we are lucky that we are both on decent salaries and able to save while still having a life. :)

Seeing house prices dropping so much is a fab motivator!!!! :T
