Hey everyone, just added around £200 to my deposit. very small amount to what I have been used to adding recently. I have managed to get a new computer for work and go on a holiday too which was well needed.purplevamp wrote: »My deposit has taken a bit of a knock these last few months as our monthly income has dropped by around £700, and my DS1 is off to Uni tomorrow, so we've had to pay for bits and pieces for him.
I think mine will too in the next few months, as my jobs looking quite precarious now. It's a shame really because it has been pretty solid for a year which is great as a freelancer and has allowed me to save quickly.
Not looking forward to the constant job hunt and very varied income in the next few months, Oh well will have to keep at it. Reaching my target will be a lot slower now, as with my job i was looking at 12 to 18 months, but now I don't know which is really frustrating.I've got a new job finally, so i'm back with you saving for my deposit
Congrats on the job, its always reassuring when you can add to the deposit. :beer:Save £12K in 2019 #: £0.00 / £10,000 (0%)

Not sure where we were on the last update, but now I'd guess we're about 10000, but it depends on exchange rates.
However, we may have to spend about 1000 soon, so that'll be a bit of a knock. Ah well, plenty of time to build it up again (and potentially a bit of a boost in income soon too).0 -
I'd like to join as well if I can!!
I have £3600 in an isa, £3000 is shares which aren't doing much at the moment. And £501 in a savings account!
I'm not sure what my total deposit needs to be yet, could be anything between £12,500 to £30,000.
But I'm hopefully buying in May next year!!0 -

Hey not posted in a while. I've made some progess now up to just over £11,000 but not as much as I had hoped. Trip to New York and paying for my driving lessons has given it quite a bit of a hit so I'm quite pleased that anything is saved to be honest!
Again well done to everyone for carrying on. It's tough now but in the long run it'll save a lot of headaches (or at least that's what I tell myself!) As I like others above are planning to live in London the target feels like I'll never get there but hopefully this thread will keep me believing it will happen eventually!0 -
Afternoon all. What a great thread this is and, whilst I havn't read them all, it seems people are doing really well. Keep up the good work.
As for me, my partner and I have been saving properly for just over a year now, I have been in full-time employment for a couple of years but she has only been out of uni a year and we have only had 12 months of both incomes to work with. As we are still staying at her parents we are in an excellent position to work towards a deposit.
As it stands we have
Halifax Isa 3000
Abbey Isa 3700
Icici fixed rate savers 2000
Abbey first-time savers 1800 (300 per month max standing order)
3250 in Halifax joint savers account (may look to move this asap)
we are looking to get around 23/24000 before taking the plunge and are hoping to save at least 1000 per month over the next year or so. Even allowing for Xmas and other hinderances, we shouldn't be hard pressed to do so.
Managed to keep on schedule so far and saved the 1200 quid each of the last 2 months. Really pleased with how it's going, but with Xmas and plenty of birthdays looming large on the horizon, im not getting too complacent.
Good luck to everyone else, dont envy u folk trying to buy Darrrrrrrn South0 -

Welcome to the thread Marcus84. It's also rather impressive that you already have fair amount saved already! Seeing figures like these spurs the rest of on to keep going.0 -
Copied from my post on the other savings thread (lazy today!)
Hi all
Belated end-of-Sept update from me (was on hols)! I'm up to £39,245 - almost £1,000 saved in Sept but that includes back pay. This is less than I would have liked, but I have lost over £400 in the CCE collapse so that will set me back, as I had been buying euros for a trip next month. I also gave my mum some money for something that she needed. Still, I aim to get as close as poss to £42,000 by the end of the year. I can do it!
I'm on a mad mission to 'save' or earn the CCE money back so I can feel that I haven't really lost it IYKWIM. So far I've earned over £120 in cashback in a week, I've also given up the Power Plate (£65 a month so £130 between now and Christmas) and made other little economies. I am raging about CCE but won't let it beat me! Anyone else affected here?
Well done all of you, and welcome to the newbies.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
