    Done a bit of calculating today and it looks like in a couple of months (taking into account equity as well) I should have enough for at least a 20% deposit in the area I want to buy. Never thought I'd have that much.

    A 20% deposit is great. Should be able to find a pretty good mortgage interest rate to go with it.:j

    That's what I'm hoping, I thought I'd have to settle for less so I suppose there is an upside to my place selling very slowly. It's also helping to mtivate my saving.

    I'm going it alone too!

    Been ages since I've posted on here, I'll have to have a look back at how far I've come since then :)

    I'm really trying to get my act together now! I'm renting in a place with a nightmare live-in landlord and I vowed this would be my last rental, so I can't escape until I have a house :( I've got £20,000 saved which is about 15% deposit where I want to be, and I've viewed lots of houses in the last week. The mortgage is the big problem for me at the moment, I'm terrified of chosing the wrong one so I keep procrastinating and not doing anything about it!

    I really need to work out how much money I'm gonna need for moving and fees and stuff, I've got about £3k extra for this but I'm afraid I might find I still don't have enough money yet :eek:
    NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

    I'm buying on my own too. OH will move with me and probably pay me a set amount each month towards my mortgage and bills (weird arrangement I know, but he's convinced that he never wants anything to do with home-owning!). So all the deposit is coming from me and the amount I borrow will only be based on my income.

    Incidently, it doesn't look like I'll be saving much at all for a while - I've just bought a laptop and tickets to see Aerosmith (£170!!!) plus I'm moving house in May and going on a family holiday in June. It's gonna be an expensive few months!

  • Why does continuously looking at my balances online not make them go up quicker?! :rotfl:
    Deposit Saved -> £25000 Target -> £25000
    100% of the way there :j
    Target Date -> 31/12/2011

    Totally off topic but... I :heart: Aerosmith. I can't afford to see them but I have seen them 3 times already so I think it's someone elses turn ;). Hope you enjoy it. Last gig I went to was Miley Cyrus with my 7 yo DD :o, surprisingly she was quite rock and her outfits were a bit :eek:!!

    Cool! I can't really afford to see them either ... but I figure it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience (they're OH's favourite band and we've never seen them before) and if they never play in the UK again I'd feel pretty stupid! So I'd be mad to not go!

    My only real hobby is going to gigs (and I don't even do that enough!) so the house savings are just going to have to take a back seat for a while! :D

    :o...and me! I keep looking at my pie chart hoping that the segments will have bigger percentages next to them. They never do :(

    I've also split my targets into 5 different chunks, and every time I get some money added into one of my savings accounts I change the targets, now that is sad. Which reminds me I'm off to add £46.40 to my totals :rotfl:
