What a joke! I've just had my ISA interest added and it's £6.86 for £8.4K, compare that to last year when I got £39.72 for £4K  That really sucks.

I'll have to look around for a much better deal. Interest rates need to pick up and soon.

    Hello!

At the moment I am torn between saving for a deposit on a house or using the money for more travelling..... I would be buying somewhere alone and would like to be able to save £20,000 - this is going to take a while!

Anyone else going it alone?! Perhaps I could start a 'I'm saving for a deposit' thread... Don't get me wrong, this thread is still motivating but would be good to chat to others in the same boat.

    xx

I'm saving for a deposit on my own, although i'm not a first time buyer so maybe not quite the same situation. Hovever there is very little equity in my house and where I want to move to is quite expensive so will need to save, realistically, the same amount as you.

I think the thread title containing 'we' refers to all the people in here, not that we all have other halves.

I'm doing it alone too! I'm seriously considering the HomeBuy scheme otherwise I'd be with my parents forever :( sent off an application, just a case of waiting to see if I get accepted!

Just got back from the bank and I have updated my sig, I now have £16,160.65 in savings, still going to hold fire on looking for places - even though i log onto rightmove nearly everyday!

I also have money saved which has been put aside for fees etc (£2,500) and £1000 towards white goods.

hope savings are going well for everybody!

Done a bit of calculating today and it looks like in a couple of months (taking into account equity as well) I should have enough for at least a 20% deposit in the area I want to buy. Never thought I'd have that much.
