Jim lad. Council tax? Car insurance? I think you will be able to save alot but not a regular £1000 a month. Maybe if you up your income a bit with overtime etc. Its weird how in the summer after my payrise il be on a simular income to you yet i dont think its a good enough salary to move out on? Is it possible for 2 people to rent, live and get by fine and healthy on £1k a month?

I think you have my situation confused..I live with my parents so i dont pay council tax.

I dont want to live on £1000 when i move out, i want to save that ish each month whilst i live at home!

LOL, I am feeling grumpy today as I want the total to go up faster! I suppose staring at excel isn't going to help??

We are making progress, finances were dented a bit by christmas but it must be the first year ever we have only spent money we have from normal wages and still saved some! Pay day for OH today so I get to plan what we should be able to save. I'd love to get to 11k by April 2010. xxx

Almost got 12k saved towards my deposit now and got my first viewing of the year on Saturday - first time buyers who saw another flat in the block and now want to see mine. Fingers crossed! Can't imagine what it'll be like living closer to work and going home every evening.

Can't believe I've been saving for a deposit for nearly 2 years. But hopefully by August this year I will have enough to buy a house. :T (fingers crossed).

Well done everyone on their savings so far.

    Oh my god the stress!!!!

We have found "our" house, it is on the market for £280k but the agent made it clear that the vendors need to sell and are flexible on price because they are going through a divorce. We initially offered £250k which was turned down, they now have an offer of £260k from us but we wont find out until Monday. We didnt want to go over £250k because of the stamp duty but we both feel its worth it and it will be a family home we can grow into.

Its been a long time in the making but our 3 years of saving feels like its going to pay off.
  • Wohhhooooooo another £500 transferred into our savings for our deposit :) Roll on next pay day and we wouldve saved nearly 3k! Thats a huuuge achievement for us as we are normally BIG spenders! LOL
