mclaren32, I was amazed at your savings too, well done!!!!!!!

I saved around £1,170 in Jan, am so pleased with that! :)

There is some help from my parents but we have cleared 15k in debts and saved 50k in the last 3 years.

It will be nice to have a little bit of free cash again.

Wow, can I ask how you's managed to save 65k by 25/26? Very high salaries? I am 25 this year and thought I was doing well having 8k saved so far for my deposit!!! lol. Although in my area a decent flat is in the region of 85-90k, considerably lower than parts in the south of england etc.

We dont earn that much but we save about 80% of our net pay so it mounts up, we dont manage that every month but we are pretty consistant.

We are still with our parents so our overheads are very low apart from running 2 cars.
  • Ferox - £8K is still really good! i'm going to be 25 this year as well and i have been saving for just over a year. i still have 9 months left of my car finance to pay off yet  i dont want to use my savings as i wont be saving much.

this month i have saved just under £500 this month as i did spend alot over xmas and just got back from holiday (spent loads then as well) - had the best time.

anyway, altogether i have £15,497.35 saved for a deposit now.

So where is everyone saving their deposit? ISA, fixed bond, e-savings etc.?

Most of mine is in my ISA. Just switched my ISA so I get a better interest rate on it.

  • hi squish

ive got most of it in an isa, but also got 1 month left on a monthly savings account, and the rest is split up with internet banking and a basic account.

ISA, regular saver, standard savings account. Which reminds me I want to shift my ISA to an internet banking account.

I have mine spread over one ISA, one monthly saver, one fixed rate 1yr saving account and two standard savings accounts.

Vixstar - good idea about getting an online ISA - I think I'll look at getting a new online one in April, as I get a terrible interest rate (below 1%) on my current ISA.

Almost half of mine is in an ISA, the rest is split between various high interest savings and current accounts (including 3x Halifax Reward Accounts :D ). I've been avreraging £50 a month interest excluding the ISA, so probably £85 a month or over £1k a year . But my 2 A&L PD accounts have just ended their 8% interest rate :( so I have £5k searching for a good home and there isn't much out there! Grr @ low IRs. If they were 6% I could be earning almost £2k in interest per year!
